Nuclear Threat within US Possible (My Title)
FoxNews

FOX NEWS just reporting that there is a potential risk of a nuclear terrorist attack against the US, maybe within the Continental borders with a 'dirty nuke' that has been smuggled across the Mexican border.
This is the threat that AG Ashcroft warned about yesterday.

I too am looking for a credible source. I think however that we have as many experts here on FR as there are anywhere else. In its way, FR is as valid a primary source as anything short of omnipotence can be. This is uncharted territory. The only thing we know for sure is that four highjacked airplanes and a few handfuls of weaponized anthrax cannot possibly be the only terrorist plots against us.

I also can't find anything on Fox website regarding this information - is there a link or any other method of confirming this information? Carl Cameron on Fox News was just talking about this no more than 15 minutes ago.

A "dirty-nuke" is also classified as a low-yield tactical fissionable device that radiates the area surrounding detonation to make it unusable for the opposition. The Fatman and LittleBoy (Hiroshima and Nagasaki) devices are considered "dirty nukes" by today's standards.

"Perhaps we should consider a pre-emptive strike. " Perhaps we should consider pre-emptive strikes.
Glassify every terrorist protecting/supporting country.

Time for the following speech by the President: "I am speaking now to the arab world and the states that support, fund and tolerate terrorism. Our intelligence community has uncovered credible evidence of a plot to use weapons of mass destruction against the United States. This might take the form of nuclear, radiation, biological or chemical weapons. Any such attack against the United States will be answered by the full force of our military might against all terrorist states. You have been warned."
So true

#26: "
It is dangerous as our ability to prevent such an attack without inside intelligence information is about nil."
When The Great Emasculator (Clinton) came to power, and, along with the other emasculators, began in earnest to vastly increase the feminization (weakening) of the military, the FBI, the CIA, and other federal institutions, many of the competent MEN and WOMEN of noble character/substance retired in disgust.
We had better hope that there are still enough strong men and women of substance in these organizations who aren't totally demoralized and are capable of rising to the occasion in this emergency (lack of sound intelligence) situation.
Of the two opposite political philosophies known as the Republican and the DemocRAT parties, the DemocRAT party has always been known a "the woman" and the Republican party has been known as "the man".
"The woman" has been in power for the better part of 60 years, and she and her supporters are responsible for emasculating America, and making us weak and vulnerable to attack ... on many fronts.
And that weakness and vulnerability eventually DID result in attack.
And "the woman" still doesn't get it.
It is as David Horowitz (who DOES get it) said, when he was on the Dr. Laura show for three hours the other day, "the left cannot be entrusted with the future security of America".
As far as I'm concerned, the cynical opportunists (emasculators)and the useful idiots (emasculated) who vote for DemocRATS / Rinos / Nader, and other emasculators, are responsible for ENDANGERING us. They make us weak and vulnerable and put us in a position not to be able to legitimately, properly and thoroughly, defend ourselves.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/fr/556034/posts Hi! I've never replied before or made a post, but I have "freeping" for over a year now, and am so grateful for this site. I hope this helps you and is the article to which you were referring. I bookmarked it be/c my brother and his family live in Phoenix.

If they had it, they would already have used it. They aren't just going to sit on it and risk being discovered and caught. That is conventional warfare thinking. The goal of terrorism is long term.
To: PrivacyChampion
The explosive power of the WTC was the same as a small tactical nuclear weapon, so we've already been hit.

The only problem with your post is that the letters were too small, there were too few exclamation points after it, and it hasn't been put on billboards all over Gore country.

How wide?

I think the goal of terroism is to strike whenever, whereever and anyway when you least expect it, could be fast and furious or slow and tedious.

I'm really offended that under some arbitary rule by someone omnipotent potentate postings and articles are removed. That's not free thought. Sometimes I think that most things allowed to be posted here are to validate the narrow world view of the 'moderators' and his butt plugs.

I do not doubt the report of an FR member. I also agree that other attacks are being plotted and that these types of threads help to defuse them. I just want to read it for myself. Somedays I sit home and watch Foxnews all day and when I miss an important announcement I feel lost.

That's like asking "How long is a piece of string?" It depends upon winds, amount of radioactive material, power of the bomb itself. Tim McVeigh expected the entire Murrah building to fall from the strength of his truck bomb, and this was reasonable, but he actually did far less damage than he had hoped. I doubt that the terrorists expected the WTC to stand long enough to let anyone out alive, or that the buildings would fall straight down as opposed to crushing the rest of Manhattan when they toppled. A friend of mine whose house was completely destroyed by the F-6 tornado in Del City, Oklahoma found folded laundry still in stacks in the ruins of her house--but the couch the laundry had been on was gone. There is an element of chaos in these things. Dust, including radioactive dust, can be carried around the world if the air currents are running the right way.

Political correctness and stupidity will be our downfall. Better stock up on those canned goods and bottled water! DING DING DING!!! We have a winner! The scourge of PC will be the downfall of our nation. But what am I going to do? I don't have enough money to buy bottled water, let alone a cabin in Idaho!
