Hate to sound pessimistic, but the AG took a deep almost trembling nervous breath on the open microphone before he began his remarks. It was not the typical nervousness of a public speaker as this appearance and round of press questioning was a non-event by all measures. Somethings up! Even so, "Let's roll."

The President needs to sit him down and have a short talk with him. "Use plain language, John. Small words are our friends. Say things people can understand. Yes. He should have come out and said: "Be careful folks, we have word that Islamics are going to try to kill a bunch of you this week. Keep an eye on them."

There goes "trick or treating"...the kids will just have to celebrate with a Halloween party at home. That's what we use to do as kids so if it's good enough for the "Goose" it's good enough for the descendents. Semper Fi, Mike

Whatever you do, don't profile.
The fact is if we sent every muslem out of the USA , the terrorist threat is gone. Look at all the money & lives saved.

I am sure that Bob Woodward, should he get on a plane, would be scanning up and down the ailes for Right Wing Extremists.

I'm in agreement here. All of us need to realize that the "WAR" is here on our soil. Even as
we are to carry on with our lives, etc. things are not going to be "as usual" anymore.
In a way we are in the crosshairs of the enemy. He hopes to pick us off at the time of his
choosing. I'm not sure there's much we can do about it. Hope our side finally gets
all the sleepers among us, and wins the war.
God bless us all.

Who's to say how many problems were averted as a result of the last warning?!! I contacted the FBI about a suspicious neighbor. When they ran the information, red flags went up. He has now been deported."
Good work!
When these warnings come out like those that night about 2-3 weeks ago when President GW looked very concerned, the FBI and our local police end up with at least 40,000,000 extra people on the alert, (at least the ones who voted for GW and understand the danger that we are in)! The others are too busy promoting their anti GW agendas to even understand what we are up against!
Only a fool would say that nothing has been accomplished by these past warnings. Let these agenda losers continue to post their trash and eat their candy bars. The rest of us can go on an alert for a few days!
How many crimes have been prevented with the potential crooks driving into a neighborhood and seeing "Neighborhood Watch Signs all over the neighborhood!" Or the next step, cops are called by the neighbors when a stranger in is the neighborhood acting a little weird!
On the West Coast too many of us feel that only the East Coast is vulnerable. This saturday after a wedding in the Carmel area, there was a walk in the Point Lobos Park for guests to see the sights and get some fresh air. I ended up walking with 6 young 30 something couples.
I could not believe these young people, most are conservatives, in denial who said that they did not think that there would be terrorism on the west coast. After my comments, I know of a whole bunch of young 30 somethings with a increased awareness level! Add this warning, and their awareness gets even higher! I just got an email from one of them after Ashcroft's announcement thanking me for waking him up this past Saturday!

They also have all been false alarms.
I have mixed feelings about that.
Just because it hasn't been brought to our attention doesn't mean something might have been stopped.

I had the feeling since when they announced GW was going to the game, that it was a ruse. That there was info that Yankee Stadium was a target, and the govt threw GW going to get the rats scurrying. And they picked up something today from that scurrying.

As I watched this announcement all I could think of was that tomorrow night you have both the World Series and Michael Jordan at Madison Square Garden in New York. Let's not forget this week is Holloween too. Frightening thought for our children. Stay safe everone.

Anyone think they know more than they told us? I sure hope they do.
The first thing that came to my mind was the thread last week about a couple of 3 a.m. hikers with large backpacks in the mountains around Colorado(?) near the World series site. Middle Eastern types. Wish I had flagged it.

I understood what Ashcroft meant. I don't know your age but maybe you have a case of ageism and he doesn't speak like you do. It's like the media who say Rush isn't the same since his hearing loss. I would rather know nothing than less than nothing if you know what I mean. It comes down to better safe then sorry.
Would you rather have Janet Reno in charge? Think of all the terrorists who thrived here in the last eight years because she was busy doing pr for Klintoon and kidnapping Elian Gonzalez for Fidel instead of doing her job and Louis Freeh, don't get me started.

on the other hand the government does'nt work in a vacume and it's supposed to be accountable to the people..Bush just handed all the politicians thier wish list of things that have been around forever but have been unable to pass because of no public support. With that in mind we need to be able to hold our officials accountable..kinda hard when it works in secret.

You know though, I get the feeling that with people outside NYC metro area and DC, it really hasn't sunk in that we are at war. What I hear is "Enough with the anthrax already". People outside the "warzones" are business as usual, too much so.

Many, many, many years ago, I worked for Eastern Airlines (see, I told you it was a LONG time ago.) We took our training in Miami; it was during the time of all the hijackings to Cuba.
Waiting for our flight back to Charlotte, we ALL thought everybody that got on the plane except us were hijackers......LOL.

the 43 suitcase nukes the Taliban got from the Soviets and have been trying (and thwarted on several occasions) to get fisionable plutonium Ah. The mislaid soviet demolition devices have been sold to the Taliban, but incomplete? As nuke DIY kits?
Where did you pick up this little snippet?
