Give me a break. I don't like being lied to by the Red Cross; just like I didn't like being lied to by Bill Clinton. Liars stink. I don't care what YOU think the money should be used for....that's not the point.

I'll continue on down the thread until I get to the post where you take DIOGENESIS to task for the same sin.

I popped over to the Red Cross Web Site while watching this thread and all I could see was Clintonian hype. You people are going to have a lot to explain in the future.

Your Red Cross facts shows how they are spending $300 million of the $580 million collected-

Where did the $580 figure for money collected by the red cross come from? Do you have a link? I didnt see that on their website.

From your link to Red Cross--

quote--" Preserving America's Spirit: The Liberty Fund

" We have created The Liberty Fund as a designated disaster relief fund separate and distinct from the domestic Disaster Relief Fund and the International Relief Fund. The Liberty Fund will support the immediate and emerging efforts of the American Red Cross to alleviate human suffering brought on by the attacks of September 11. All donations received since September 11, 2001 will be placed in this disaster relief fund."

This implies all the money would go to the Sept 11 attacks.

Most of those in opposition to your defense of the Red Cross don't quite get your motive.

Um. . motivated by facts and truth? Tried it before?

The $580 million has been widely reported in the news and on Ted koppels show--the criticism of the resigning president is that she was only talking about the $300 million and not the $580 million.

What? Do you have some kind of crystal ball that lets you know that your money is going to help a few American girls in Afghanistan?

Just in case someone on this thread mistaked you for a rocket scientist:

Facts and truth seem to be running against you. I suggest you try answering the question again with a little more veracity.

By the way, did you mess your pants? Something starting to smell on this thread and it aint me!

Miss Marple: As I said, they are within their legal rights. This will, however, be a PR disaster from which they will take nearly a generation to recover. Such a shame.

VA Advogado: Fair enough. I think we both agree on this.

It seems to me with the above admission by you, that the debate on this thread should have ended as between the main protagenists. You concede that the Red Cross slashed one of its own critical arteries, and that all the blood drives in the world may not be sufficient to make up its own blood deficit.

There is no room in the mainstream charitable world for disingenuousness, and slickness. None. At least not when they get caught at it.

There are a lot of source on the internet. If you can post a link that said thats how much the red cross has taken in, I would appreciate it.

From your link to Red Cross-- quote--" Preserving America's Spirit: The Liberty Fund This implies all the money would go to the Sept 11 attacks.

Well that link also shows where all the 'liberty fund' money is going. I don't deny you can argue that trips to those American Christian college girls imprisoned in Afghanistan aren't related to 9/11. (that would be the international money) I just wouldn't be the one to make that arguement or agree with it.

Have you given anything to the red cross since 9/10/01?

I've already answered that question in a comment that I posted to you. What is your fascination with who has contributed and who has not, anyway? What the heck do you care...is it paying your salary? I heard that Healy made somewhere around $450,000 a year, not bad for a desk job.

Quote from www.abc.com

"She said there were also policy differences over how to spend nearly $500 million raised to help the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks."

I think the $580 million is more correct.

Again, I agree. The life(blood) of any charity is trust and the perception of trust. I personally don't feel they've violated *my* trust. But others have. I happen to know that do-good organizations sometimes do things that maybe we all dont agree with. They get beyond what we feel should be their critical mission. But they do that usually with good intentions. Normally I wouldn't argue good intentions because thats a liberal thing. But thats what these groups are. Not liberal in a politcal sense, but 'giving professions' attract that type. But all this is a far cry from the ignorant, misinformed claims made early on this thread that the Red Cross "STOLE" the money or lied about how it would be used. Diogenesis and his ilk deserve to be come down on and down on hard to answer for their blubbering lies. You, Miss Marple and some of the more intelligent posters are a bit more interesting to discuss things with. :)

I didn't make any such post to DIOGENESIS and I won't in the future.

Just in case someone mistakes you as someone with reading comprehension skills....fyi: that article does not mention anything about the September 11th money being used to help the Christian girls in Afghanistan.

I think the $580 million is more correct.

This presumes there was a way to segregate the funds for 9/11 from their regular donations? You cant just say anything donated after 9/11 is for 9/11 stuff. They have regular corporate and payroll donors.
