I think the $580 million is more correct.

This presumes there was a way to segregate the funds for 9/11 from their regular donations? You cant just say anything donated after 9/11 is for 9/11 stuff. They have regular corporate and payroll donors.

This implies all the money would go to the Sept 11 attacks.

Doesn't the Red Cross' site state that all donations received after the 11th will go toward 9/11 stuff? I thought that was what the post I've clipped above was about.
