Jet diverted to Manitoba
BRANDON, Man. (CP) -- An American executive jet was sitting on an airport tarmac surrounded by police Friday after being diverted from its Washington D.C., destination, authorities said.
John Christinsen, Brandon airport manager, said he was told by Winnipeg air traffic control the flight, which originated in Japan, was "squawking wrong" -- meaning there were unusual radio transmissions.
Witnesses said 10 to 12 RCMP and Brandon city police cars, including an emergency response team, had surrounded the plane. The doors of the aircraft were open but no one was visible.
Police said there were six passengers and four crew aboard. Their nationalities were unknown.
No one initially boarded or left the plane. Police were in radio contact, however.
The jet had previously landed in Anchorage, Alaska, for refuelling.

Probably Hillary R. Clinton's private jet.
Go ahead and make fun of me - but last week I happened to be behind a very slow moving (15 mph) van with Manitoba plates down a country road 50 miles north of NYC, and couldn't help but notice the windows were completely covered with curtains and there was a hand-fashioned 3x6 wood box affixed to the back with a padlock on it. There were two of them, in fact. Maybe they were headed back to Manitoba for something.

Hmmm....a "secure" business type jet landed in Pakistan yesterday.
Supposedly, took on a "passenger"--guards were masked.
Supposedly, was taking the "passenger" to Amman, Jordan.
Jet was registered to Premier Executive Transport.
Curious.

They just added this on to the end of their breaking news article:
-------------------
Corey Allum, general manager of the Brandon Flying Club, could see the plane from his office.
"There's police pretty well everywhere," Allum said.
Allum, who has a radio in his office, could hear police communicating with the jet, asking someone on board questions.
No one asked the flying club to evacuate the airport but added he sent all of his staff home.

Where did they say "anthrax" in this article, or did you bother to read it?

Point well taken!

Air Traffic Controllers are especially alert these days, and it may be presumed the "squawking wrong" was likely informational, not a common, trivial mistake.
I hope it's not gonna develop into a hostage or threat situation.
