Thank You St.Jude!!! Saint Jude Stories...VANITY/I GOT MY BOY!
10-25-01 | My Favorite Headache

Posted on 10/25/2001 4:43:35 PM PDT by My Favorite Headache

Thank you Saint Jude! God is powerful and the Almighty! After 2 long years of hacking it out my prayers have been answered BIG TIME tonight on one issue. The custody of my son has out of nowhere been decided! I had my hearing for it on Nov.8th coming up. My sons mother tonight gave the word to my attorney and myself via phone call...she is STANDING DOWN!!!!!!!!! 50/50 Custody!! No more just when she says so. This has taken its toll on me and I have spent some pretty dark days about it.

I am no longer going to be just a weekend father but the father he needs in his life everyday. I got the alternate holiday offer and custody of whenever I want him. I should never have doubted the staying power of praying to St.Jude. Although my requests have been plenty this one has taken its presidence as of late due to the court date coming soon.

I feel like a mountain has been lifted off of me. I have a few other things yet to face that are very touchy for me to face. I am facing a replacement of my right knee ( I am only 27 ) and I am totally freaked out about it. Years of football and hockey have caught up with me. Plus big time doctor negligence. I was never supposed to be treated the way I was by the docs I was seeing. Now I am screwed.

My problem I have with the operation is the fact that I do not do well with anestisa at all. I am on a R/X to deal with dizziness from concussions and this operation is a risk on me. I worry like no other on this. I just need the strength and protection from harm on this.

I haven't joined any prayer lists for myself because I did not want to feel embarassed by all of the issues facing me in my life. For some reason so many people on FR are like family to me offline. I feel there is a line that gets crossed with personal info on here and did not want to expel it.

As I learn to trust my instincts more and more and start having more faith in people and let the level of cynicism drop I do not feel so on guard. I also am aware that it is an internet forum as well and not a priest or therapist. But I tell you what...some of you people for the most part are better therapy than any of them could be and it is free!

Some of the posts in here sometimes whether they be an flame right back at me or a joke or just a comment or image brighten my day more than you will ever know. Between working, being a single parent, and having some other issues to deal with this is one of my solace outlets I get everyday or when I can get here.

I thank you all for that. Hell even Registered's pictures make a horrible day end sometimes with a laugh like never before. So I end this vanity asking you all to add me to your prayers. I have a 4th interview with a law enforcement agency tomorrow (it will be the final one of the series) and it is for Public Relations Officer. This job would change my life in so many ways you just can not begin to understand. I enjoy what I have right now but this will change it for the better 100,000,000 times.

So if any of you on here would like to add to this thread please do. I am interested in some stories of St.Jude and your life or someone you know. I for one am a TRUE believer as of tonight. If you do not want to post...I will just say thank you. Thank you for being here without you even knowing it through my darkest hours.

Check out this St. Jude web site:

Tribute to St. Jude

The site has the full story on "Who is St. Jude?" You may also compare an ancient painting of the face of Jesus copied from an impression made by Christ, with a remarkable photo from the Shroud of Turin.

The site has many great links for Biblical research and early history of the Christian Church.

From the "Tribute to St. Jude Site:"

Who Is Saint Jude Thaddeus?

St. Jude was reported to be a brother of St. James the Lesser, also one of the Twelve Apostles. These two together with two other brothers (one St. Simeon of Jerusalem) are described by St. Matthew (13:55) as the "brethren" of Jesus. In the Hebrew language, the word "brethren" indicates a near, family or blood relationship.

According to tradition, St. Jude's father, Cleophas (or Alphaeus of Cleophas), was murdered because of his forthright and outspoken devotion to the risen Christ. Mary of Cleophas, the mother of St. Jude and St. James the Less, was a cousin of the Virgin Mary. After her death, miracles were attributed to the intercession of Mary of Cleophas.

It was through St. Jude's efforts that Christians today have been blessed with the Image of Edessa which is a faithful representation of the face of Jesus Christ.

It is for this reason that St. Jude is usually pictured as carrying the image of Jesus in his hand. According to the tradition of the Early Church -- our primary source of history of the saint -- an imprint of the Divine Countenance was created by Jesus and entrusted to St. Jude in order to effect a cure of the Armenian King known as Abgar of Ouchama.

These famous events quickly elevated St. Jude's reputation for miracles and healing in the early Church commonly referred to as The Legend of King Abgar.

King Abgar V of Edessa, who was said to suffer from leprosy, sent word to Jesus asking Him to come and cure him. With his request, we are told, the King sent an artist to return with a picture of the Master. Impressed with his great faith, Our Lord is said to have pressed His image on a cloth and entrusted it to St. Jude to deliver to the King Abgar and to cure him thereby. The King was cured and together with most of his subjects was converted to Christianity.

The Image of Edessa entrusted to St. Jude for delivery to Abgar, called "The Mandylionis" -- and by tradition is said to be "Akheiropoietos," i.e. "not-made-by-human-hand". The Image of Edessa has been linked by history and legend to other famous images of Jesus Christ, including the Shroud of Tourin and the burial head shroud known as the "Holy Sudarium."

All the best to you and your son and praise to you for fighting to get him.>>>>>>

I would walk through fire, breathe envelopes of anthrax, sprayed by crop dusters of small pox, jump into falling buildings, swim through lava, and take a bullet if it meant his life or mine.

One of the great miracles of St. Jude is the conversion of most of the Armenian nation to Christianity virtually overnight.

I have been to services at Armenian churches and also to one their beautiful and ritualistic funeral services. The Armenian Eastern Rite Mass is ancient in its language, symbolism and origins .... Armenians are incredibly spiritual people.

I had no idea to be honest. Isn't it funny when you start to question your faith and all it stands for that something happens to put it all in perspective and let you know why you are what you are and you have believed all along what you have for a reason?

Thanks for the ping, Mugwumps (someone did read the sub-thread about paternal custody!)

My Favorite Headache - congratulations in the extreme! I am also a single parent with custody of my twin 6 year-old sons. I won't bore you with the details but suffice to say I can empathize with you on your custody battle. Sounds like it's going to work out for the best for you and your son (and his mom, too), which is the best you can hope for. I know what you mean about the weight being lifted from your shoulders, too.

I can't say I'm terribly religious, although I have started going back to church the past two months or so. I'll say a prayer for your surgery. Almost twenty years ago I was on leave after USAF basic training and wrenched my knee (again) and found out one kneecap was in 6 pieces and the other was in 7. My grandfather is a doctor and he had a friend (bone specialist) check me out. The guy told me I had a birth defect called "bipartite patela" and reasonably theorized I had broken both knees numerous times playing football and pole-vaulting (since my parents were Christian Scientists, I just limped around and borrowed crutches from the athletic department when I'd "tweak" a knee). Anyway, we kept it from the USAF (so I wouldn't get discharged) and the specialist said the only therapy would be replacement, so put it off as long as you can stand it as the technology keeps improving. Still haven't had replacement surgery yet but, like the custody thing, I can empathize with you. I did have a friend in USAF who had to have knee replacement (rodeo accident) and it turned out great for him, so there's hope. Good luck on everything, bro.

I'm probably similar to you on the prayer thing (among other things, it appears). But you know I'm with you, bro. I'll say a prayer for you, too (like I know how).

The only thing you can really do is hold your head up high, be the best person you know how to be, and keep the faith as strongly as you can. This proves things can work out for fathers, although we both know the courts make it as hard as possible sometimes.

Actually, given the facts you cite, did your lawyer mention anything about having this "judge" reviewed by the bar association, as he seems to be doing sideways backflips to award custody to the mother in spite of a mountain of serious evidence that this is the wrong decision? Do you think your lawyer did a good job for you and fought as hard as possible (like, getting the right judge to hear the case)? If not, I'd strongly consider finding a more aggressive attorney.

How about it, freepers? Anybody know a good divorce attorney in the State of Washington?

Thanks for sharing the story. I have a torn miniscous and fractured patella that has not healed in 20 months. The insurance company has just gotten around to approving the surgery. Total drooling morons. Anyway thanks for the response.

I would say so. Update is I just got in from the 4th interview for the public relations officer position. I thought it was going to be my last. I went up in front of a board of 3 people and was questioned for 1 hr. Now they told me I have to move on to a 3 HOUR POLYGRAPH TEST?!?!? What in the hell are they going to ask me for 3 hours? 5 days to go with that. Insane. But I passed another phase so that is good. I just wish they would do the automatic hire already. 4 times is enough!

can a judge be 'reviewed' by anyone? this guy took 6 MONTHS to render his decision, and bent over backwards in his decision which does not even agree with ITSELF>

In the second to last paragraph he noted that 'mother has a poor track record with her older childre' and then in the nex paragraph grants her custody...

It just does not make sense!!
