Ticked off by Hartford, CT demonstration (vanity)

I was driving home from work (I work in Hartford, CT). I got onto State Street in my Jeep, and all these police cars are in the area, sirens bleeping. I see a little parade of people start to come down State Street. One of them is carrying an upside-down U.S. Flag. A few of them are carrying a sign: "War: Another Form of Terrorism".

I got really ticked off at this sight, and rolled down my Jeep window. I yelled out at them "You people don't deserve the [police] protection you're getting! You're a disgrace!"

Was I overreacting? To me, they were exercising a form of terrorism -- blocking traffic, coming up to cars to hand out flyers. I can only assume the cops were holding their noses having to defend such people.

I have no problem per se with peaceful protests. But when they interfere with my life, block traffic (including, potentially, fire trucks and emergency vehicles), and get in my face, they are terrorizing me. And of course, their message makes me see red.

I post this because I hope some of you fine people will tell me I'm not nuts, and not over-sensitive for being angry at this.

Did any of you have to endure this kind of 'parade' recently during rush hour?

The solution is to move. I did...I used to live in CT, in fact I helped to start the CT chapter of FR years ago there...but just could not take the backwards thinking of that state!

I saw them too. I gave them the thumbs down sign. Folks around me said: "They are stupid." I said "No. They are giving aid and comfort to our enemy. They are evil."

When I told my wife about the protests she also said "they are stupid". Then she got the lecture:

I have never been so angry in my life. These protestors are our enemies. They should not be allowed to assemble. They should be tried as traitors. Our country is under attack. They are supporting our attackers.

It may be hours before I calm down. I am deeply upset about this. Words are failing me.

I don't appreciate your implication that I equate this protest with the events of 9/11. I said a FORM of terrorism. I didn't specify the degree. You're preaching to the choir. The whole REASON the protest pissed me off was because they were trying to force-feed me their ideas that I AM A TERRORIST for wanting retaliation by force against those who murdered so many of our citizens.
