Military Helo flying low over I-15 in Vegas (my title)
Co-worker
Posted on 10/24/2001 4:09:19 PM PDT by sungod
A co-worker just called me to say that he was watching an American Military Helicopter flying 100 Feet above Interstate 15 in Las Vegas. He said it popped out from behind the Bellagio Hotel/Casino, then flew over 15, then following the exit to I-95. He said all the cars were breaking to see what was going on. This is a confirmed sighting by a friend/co-worker. I will try to get more details.
I-15 is the major freeway here in Vegas. This time of day it is a traffic mess like any major city is. 95 is also a major freeway.
It may be nothing, but I think we can all admit that this isn't standard military practice.

I don't understand a word of your post, so I cannot tell is you're being facetious or offering real information. If you were being serious, I sure hope my vehicle was not omitting whatever the helicopters may have been looking for. I have Bush for President and Earley for Governor bumper stickers, and a flag on my antenna. I hope that doesn't make me a target. I assume since no commandoes dropped down through my sunroof and carted me away, I am innocent.

PB:
"No, it would not have caused an accident flying at 100 feet (unless someone is driving around in a 101-foot high vehicle). The idiots deciding to stare at him when they should be paying attention to traffic would have caused the accident." You've obviously never driven on I-15 in Vegas during rush hour. It's a truly terrifying experience. You have a mix of retired oldsters peering over the steering wheel while going 40 mph in the fast lane; gawking, rubbernecking tourists in rental cars who's sole driving experience is driving the combine and tractor on the farm back home; gangbangers crusing the slow lane in their lowriders hoping somebody will piss them off; and aggressive, hyper-velocity local drivers, cursing and gesturing profanely while weaving through the mess at Warp 9, and tailgating like a tick on your butt when they can't. Add to the situation the fact that it's perfectly legal in Vegas to keep a loaded gun concealed in the car, which I've seen people brandish in traffic conflicts many times. I-15 an E-ticket ride on normal days, without a Blackhawk buzzing the freeway drawing everyone's attention upward away from the road.

Could it possibly be a movie stunt ?
Personally I'm pulling for the Elvis theory...I'm pretty sure he bussed our table at the Circus Circus in 89'...

--nope--93 and 95 ain't Interstate--I-15 and I-215 (beltway) are--
To: jimtorr
It's actually US Route 95. (The US route system predates the Interstate Highway System; Route 66 was actually US Route 66.)

I've actually driven I-15 through Vegas. Yeah, it's an E-ticket. But it's still the steering wheel actuator that is the source of all the problems.

Actually, it's US 95. Right, sorry. I always get the highway system terminology mixed up. My bad.

these helicopters may be running a vehicle radiological screen - searching for an excessive radiological signature. Yup....as you know, we've had teams checking such out for decades. My guess is before we do anything drastic, we make darn sure there is nothing in situ we need to be concerned about. There are many boasts on left wing sites that some sort of device is ready to go the second we take out Ladin or use nukes.

Get a grip, a little humor is good relief a neat sighting is when your driving an old country road and a B-52 on a low level simulated bomb run happens upon you, now that will get your attention.
