Should Conservatives Support Rudeness? Why booing Senator Clinton is beneath us.
self

Posted on 10/23/2001 1:51:57 PM PDT by watsonfellow

First of all, to prevent the flamings, I should say that I am a strong conservative, and my number one issue is the life issue and so I am not at all a supporter of the Clintons etc.

That being said, I thought it the height of rudeness for these firemen and policemen to boo and yell at the Senator this weekend. It lacked dignity and class. I thought we conservatives were supposed to stand for such things, or perhaps this is just what we say, but do not practice.

I wonder what Burke et al would have said about this conservative embrace of very questionable manners.

The policemen and firemen should have just done nothing when she appeared on stage, no clapping, no booing, the silence would have expressed the same thing, but in a much more dignified way.

"I am a recent graduate of Claremont McKenna College in Claremont (not that low class Montclare) where I studied the Classics and PPE (Pomposity, Punditry, and Egocentricity). This year I am a Thomas J. Watson Fellow (and just to rub it in that is why my screen name is watsonfellow) studying Catholic (in the original Latin) and Islamic (in the originial squiggly lines) culture in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East (and if you're not impressed yet there's more)."

HUH? Is this animal for real? LOL. When society has it too easy that's when people like this develop. They produce nothing for societal use and the bettermen of mankinds practical needs.

I have a Degree in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics. I graduated from the University of Minnesota, which at the time was ranked 3rd in the nation in that discipline. I designed airplanes. I know enough to know that I do not NEARLY know everything....but guys like this really interest me....they have no practical use...the represent the classic parasitic element to a overdeveloped society. Any positive benefit of these people's education toward the arts is obscured by their egos....more on next post...

No, I'm afraid booing is quite out of the question. A low-pitched hiss is acceptable if done in good taste but only if absolutely necessary.

Hillary could not have been booed had she thanked the police officers and fireman for their sacrifices. As it was, she thanked everyone there for their support of New York and for those who will need help in the future. She was thanking everyone there but the invited special guests.

OF COURSE it's "rude" to "Boo" Hillary; there is a long & noble tradition of "BOOING" unpopular civic "leaders" in our Nation--Dating "back" to "Pre-Revolutionary Times!"

THUS SPEAK "The Citizens!"

"Hillary" is the sad product of a "Wellesley Education in the '70's,"---UTTERLY isolated from the Nation she inhabits, & utterly convinced that HER view of "reality" is accurate.

She was "booed" because she has proven herself to be intellectually incapable of modifying or adapting her "Wellesley Girl Indoctrination" to accomodate a reality Far Different from her "Programmed Beliefs!"---she was "booed" for manipulating a NY Senate race (without the Intellectual power to "sit as an equal" with the rest of the Senate).

She was "Booed" because of her utter inability to act in a dignified manner--or even ACT dignified!

She was "Booed" because she embraces the ANTITHESIS of the deeply held social & Religious beliefs of the VAST Majority of the "audience" of that concert! Her "Senate Representation of NY" is a FRAUD--& THESE "New Yorkers" KNOW IT!

I applaud the fire/police type persons booing Hillary....what a great opportunity to express the feelings of so many Americans...in a format that could not be hidden away...

They kind of remind me of the pieces of doggie doo-doo that don't have the common decency to fall onto the ground...but just hang around for the societal ride eventhough they have no obvious use other than to weigh down and feed off others productivity.

Ordinarily I'd agree with you, however, Hitlery has earned the disrespect of all decent people.

Kudos for NY's heroes who once again outdid themselves with their patriotic expressions.

Personally, I think the Clintons need to suffer scorn and derision for the rest of their lives.

Do you think the Firemen and cops would have booed her, if she came out and said

I came to praise you heroes and thank you for your brave work.

Now go listen to what she did say.

Maybe she forgot, just who the event was to help and honor.

I have aways wonder how a smart person can get themselves in as many dumb situations as she does.

Then again, she could be dumber than a sack of rocks.

I thought it the height of rudeness for ...

I thought the height of rudeness was for Hillary and Bill to show up and pretend they're New Yorkers. Rude to use every forum to appear before their "subjects".

It was rude for her motorcade to run into a cop!

My favorite line was Hillary thanking those in the audience for coming. Who was she to thank them for coming? She wasn't even invited!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

You are correct, sir. Still, we all must have our guilty pleasure once in a while, and it couldn't have happened to a more deserving person.

Still, total silence WOULD have been much more devastating.

Why booing Senator Clinton is beneath us.

Why it isn't:

"...[T]oo many people sit on their blessed assurances and don't speak the truth. They don't point the finger and say that emperor has no clothes. They don't call a political thug a political thug and don't call a liar a liar. And sadly, most of those wimps who won't speak the truth are in positions of political leadership. In that vacuum, double-speak works, hypocrisy is accepted, lying is tolerated, and politicians can say anything, no matter how outrageous, and get away with it. That flaw in our social character may just be the death of us yet." --Thomas L. Jipping

I believe Hillary deserved a public humiliation. She has had no hesitation in the past using her cronies to smear others and even have them prosecuted and their lives ruined (Travel Office mess). The potential public humiliation she would have received as a result of the Travel Office fiasco cost the life of Vince Foster.
A public figure deserves a public humiliation.

Wrong. I'll have you know that I am a World Class Traipser. I've Traipsed in many countries throughout the world. I even performed the near impossible Andorra Traipse. In addition, I hold an Olympic Gold Medal in Traipsing.

What do you mean support? It's done! We're merely reacting to the news that cops and firefighters were booing her. It has nothing to with us.

"I am taken to task for my manners"

My goodness! It's rude to criticize people's manners.
Uh, that is what you're saying isn't it?

A fun thread!
