"I am a recent graduate of Claremont McKenna College in Claremont (not that low class Montclare) where I studied the Classics and PPE (Pomposity, Punditry, and Egocentricity). This year I am a Thomas J. Watson Fellow (and just to rub it in that is why my screen name is watsonfellow) studying Catholic (in the original Latin) and Islamic (in the originial squiggly lines) culture in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East (and if you're not impressed yet there's more)."

HUH? Is this animal for real? LOL. When society has it too easy that's when people like this develop. They produce nothing for societal use and the bettermen of mankinds practical needs.

I have a Degree in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics. I graduated from the University of Minnesota, which at the time was ranked 3rd in the nation in that discipline. I designed airplanes. I know enough to know that I do not NEARLY know everything....but guys like this really interest me....they have no practical use...the represent the classic parasitic element to a overdeveloped society. Any positive benefit of these people's education toward the arts is obscured by their egos....more on next post...

Wrong. I'll have you know that I am a World Class Traipser. I've Traipsed in many countries throughout the world. I even performed the near impossible Andorra Traipse. In addition, I hold an Olympic Gold Medal in Traipsing.

Parasitic element? How so? You mean our Watson Fellow is on welfare? I am impressed that you can derive this much from a rather minimal profile.

Y'know, it comes off as a lot less arrogant when you condemn someone's education without touting your own. Just because someone lists his education on the profile page, does NOT mean he's saying, "Hey, look at me, I'm better than everybody else." That would, regrettably, be the impression I got from someone who found a way to work his academic background into a thread for the sole purpose of beating someone else over the head with it.

For what it's worth, the way I use the profile is this: if someone with whom I am not acquainted posts something that I find either unusual or questionable (or something, I might like to use in a future discussion) I will check the profile to establish a level of confidence in the poster's expertise. I am happy to see a list of accomlishments and areas of expertise, so that I have a fair expectation how much confidence I can have in a poster's statements of fact. It also permits me to understand his opinions in some sort of context.
