This is quite a rejoinder to Salon's first review of the concert, which was quite snotty and condescending:

Who do we think died trying to save the World Trade Center victims that morning, Richard Gere and Ralph Nader? Snotty rock critics? Good line.

Good piece. There's hope for her yet.

CYA. This is damage control prompted by the e-mail howls written by Salon's (few) paying subscribers.

There's a lot to like about this piece, amazingly enough.
And then there was my crazy homeboy, the beefy fireman who saluted his fallen brothers and then said, on behalf of all Irish Americans, "Osama bin Laden can kiss my royal Irish ass,"
I like this line so much I may have some t-shirts printed up and send the profits to the NY fallen firefighters fund.

Some of them drink too much and vote Republican and lots of them apparently hate Sen. Hillary Clinton, who got roundly booed when she came onstage to feel their pain. But they're heroes nonetheless. Oh, so they're heroes in spite of loathing The Pantsuit?
Guess again.
