"I so very much appreciate all the kind thoughts and good wishes expressed by the Free Republic readers.
Barbara was a great fan of Free Republic.
The knowledge of how much Barbara was loved and admired has been my chief consolation in these difficult days.
Sincerely,
Theodore B. Olson"

You've been an important role model for us all in these days. Full of sorrow, intent on justice, unwaveringly patriotic.

Barbara was the Happy Warrior, tackling injustice and liberal spin with a smile and infectious joy, giving the world a shining example of what a conservative woman is all about. I hope that her last book continues to top the charts for many, many weeks to come. And may Ted take some comfort in knowing how many lives she touched in her far too short existence.

Thank you for posting this email from Ted. Barbara was a wonderful, honest, caring woman who cared for all of us. Her books are her legacy. God bless you Barbara, may you rest in peace.

Thank you, Paul, for posting Ted's kind words.
This past Thursday night, the "FReeper Cruisers" had a short, but moving, memorial service for BKO, BCM and CHIEF negotiator. We threw red and white roses in the ocean and sang "God Bless America," to say "goodby" and bring to closure our grieving for their untimely loss.
However, as one FReeper astutely noted, after most of the roses we threw in the sea were blown back on board the Majesty of the Seas (we were on the weather deck, 7th level), God is not quite ready for us to let them go! (We of, course, picked the roses up and recomitted them to the sea).
It is up to us to carry on for them, and never forget them.

It's picking a nit, but Barbara Olson still IS a great person, just not as easily accessible to us. We have her books and video record of her values; she has not gone from existence, just from existence on ou level of reality, Barbara Olson still IS. Rest in peace?... Not that woman! I'm betting she's really busy!

In all of the tragedy and the confusion of the events of September 11, 2001, the one event that really hit home to me and my wife was the death of Barbara Olson. Even though we did not know her personally, we felt like we had lost a close family friend. Even now when thinking of her and that day tears flow. Mrs. Olson had become our hero of sorts on the various news programs she would appear on. When we think of September 11th we will always remember Barbara Olson. We miss her and wish her family the best in this time of mourning. Our condolences go out to the Olson family.
To: Paul Rodriguez
Thank you for posting this. Please pass along condolences to Mr. Olsen. I can't imagine the pain he must be feeling. I can't wait to read her book. Also, I admired his work last fall in the court hearings; I videotaped them to save for my kids to see someday.

Had more law school graduates in America been as serious about defending liberty as Ted and Barbara Olson, our nation would not be facing its current dilemma and Barbara, undoubtedly, would be alive and continuing her great work!
Unfortunately, those who were the objects of her greatest scorn had studied law and had found in their study ways to subvert and undermine the Constitution's protections of liberty, preferring, rather, to misuse their position for power and monetary gain. Sadly, their preoccupation with the trappings of power and position caused them to neglect the nation's defense, and to leave us vulnerable to terrorist attacks such as that which took Barbara's life.
Let us all honor Barbara's life by renewing our study of the Founders' writings so that we may be equipped to articulate the ideas of liberty and to fight the fight on behalf of posterity!
God bless you, Ted. Keep up your principled work.
To: Paul Rodriguez
Give him our thanks and he can know that his is in our prayers.
