Thirty foreign journalists are reportedly being held hostage by Afghan tribesmen.
Reports say they entered the country and crossed over to Taliban lines where they were captured north of Kabul.
The group is believed to include British reporters.
The unconfirmed report comes from the Pakistan Observer. The Foreign Office says it has no reports of any British nationals missing in Afghanistan.
The group secretly entered Afghanistan from Uzbekistan to cover the military action by the US, the paper says.
It says they were captured by the tribesmen at Ostana village.
It says the journalists are from India, US, Britain, Germany, Russia, Bulgaria, France and West Asia.
The tribesmen are demanding one thousand dollars as ransom to release them.
A large number of journalists are covering the war from areas controlled by the Northern Alliance.

Would they accept $1500 to keep them?
LOL! The amount they are asking either indicates the report is false, OR that these nomads are stupid.

Thanks for this post. Obviously these Afghans holding the 30 thirty liars, er reporters, have no concept of supply and demand!
There is such an over supply of liars, er reporters, their real economic value would be a negative number. They would have to pay us to take them back!
This is good collateral damage! You Afghans can keep these liars er reporters! Or you can try them as spies and handle them as you normally do!

So solly. Just the same, time to carpet bomb Ostana!

I had heard that ransom demand but you did not report the second part of the demand: $10,000 to keep them; hell, put up $100,000 and throw in some lawyers, too.

excellent points all! :) The USA suffers from a propaganda drought. Let's see. It's my belief we should do more to point out the fact that Iran was the first to adopt the medieval mindset and the first to reject it outright. Iran is a poster child for the need to reject fanatical fundamentalism. They are a beacon of modern thinking in that part of the world. Their women attend universities and they are allowed to advance their personal lives as doctors and other professionals. Get the word out. Fundamental fanaticism is a failed doctrine! Get the word out.

The tribesmen are demanding one thousand dollars as ransom to release them. If they want us to take those journalists back they'll have to offer a lot more than just a thousand dollars.

Only thirty journalists? Well, it's a start. How do we send them more? Not just journalists, but anchors + Andy Rooney!

Great, now journalists are complicating things. Sorry, but their popularity is bottoming out to the levels of lawyers. Those scums can die in hell, because that is what it is, war is hell and you die there.

put up $100,000 and throw in some lawyers, too.
Hahahaha and DITTOS here. Include Richard Gere and Eva, er, Hillary and you've got a deal.

The group secretly entered Afghanistan Well DUH! What did they expect to find?
Talk about taking chances!!!
They're lucky to be alive if the Taliban isn't lieing again.
The Taliban has a history of doing that.
