Bump. I've read Warraq's book (not his real named (he was a Muslim but had to change it - literally so he wouldn't be Salaman Rushieed)). Its a good solid account, in my view, of some of the historical and doctrinal falacies in Islam. They are problems which do directly bear on the actions of modern groups like al-Qaeda.

There was a woman who came to our church over ten years ago and taught us about Islam and how they have prophecies of a prophet who would rise up and unite the muslims in a Jihad to convert the world to Islam at the edge of a sword. Saddam wanted to be this man. Syria's late president wanted to be this man. Egypt's President Nassar wanted to be this man many years back, and many thought he would be too! But now Osama wants to be him. They all have one underlining theme- they want to unite the muslims around the world in a holy war against the world.
