Hey no-meat-eaters-on-Fridays-during-Lent!
There are a ton of us Catholic Freepers out there, this is our little thread in the big big world. This is just my way of attempting to get to know people just like me.
A few links I enjoy:
www.vatican.va - the Holiest Web Site on Earth
www.scripturecatholic.com - providing Scripture references to support the teachings of the faith
And lastly, I post a joke I once heard on Free Republic:
What is the difference between a Catholic and a Protestant? Catholics wave to each other in the liqour store.

Proud Catholic Florida Freeper checking in!!! My kids go to Catholic school, I went to Catholic school. I have found much comfort in the last weeks by saying the Rosary on a daily basis. Sometimes, it's the only way I can get to sleep. God Bless...Deej

So, converts, why did you join the Church? I could write a book, but I'll make it short.
Like most Protestants, I lived in a world of lies and ignorance regarding the Catholic Church. But one day, I decided to find the truth for myself. Once I started learning what the Catholic Church was really about, there was no holding me back. I had to become a Catholic.
Now, of course, I realize that it was Christ's grace and the Holy Spirit that was leading me to real Christianity. The Lord has done a lot for me, but leading me to the Catholic Church tops it all.

California Cradle Catholic -- 12 years of Dominican Sisters (Adrian, Michigan and Mission San Jose) -- Raised in Carmelite Parish ... sister and best friend of a Sister of Mount Carmel. Consummately Conservative and Consummately PRO-LIFE from conception to natural death and a "practitioner" of our Faith.
"Into" the Archangels -- "raised" in the family atmosphere and parish of St. Raphael" -- high school at St Michael's Girls High. My deceased husband attended our parish school and functions, as well -- and Mount Carmel High School (once famous, now defunct).
The Brown Scapular, Our Lady of Fatima and the Rosary -- and St. Dominic's "ladies" with their motto "Veritas" are imminently ingrained in me.

Well, you are being so "indoctrinated" -- you probably are becoming a Catholic -- via absorption.
More than half way there anyway ... ;~)

Vivat Jesus! Greetings from your feathered friend and brother Knight in the wonderful Diocese of Arlington, Virginia. Check out our diocesan newspaper, the
Arlington Catholic Herald. Fr. Saunders' column "Straight Answers" is a good read.
Here are the Virginia Knights of Columbus.

Thanks for the post. Nice to know there are faithful Catholics out there. Where I live it is very liberal. Pray for us, for renewal in Raleigh NC

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles begins our "Synod" in the next year -- I want to be able to present the subjects that I feel are not being addressed enough at our Parish "speak up" sessions in early November and would like to do so in a calm and rational, but effective manner.
My "cause" is pro-LIFE and the hands off policies that smother the Church -- how about a thread to address how I can make a strong case for this being a number one priority???
I DID have successful input (eventually) when we lost our former pastor which was very indicative of what those who were too shy to speak felt ... HELP? for diplomacy and strength of purpose!

Hi Windminstrel--another Catholic convert here. After being a non-denominational protestant all my life, I married a Catholic man, & I ended up converting. I'm very happy I did--it feels like after many, many years, I'm finally, really, finally home.

Thanks for the pings!
Another NJ, Schundler-voting Catholic. I had the opportunity, in 1975, to live in Rome with my mother while she was studying for an advanced degree at the University of Rome. One year, she attended midnight Mass on Christmas Eve at St. Peter's Basilica. We watched the Mass on TV and tried to see her in the audience, but to no avail.

Although I know there is room, if there was a lack of space, you could have my seat and I'd stand. You're setting a terrific example for your children. I have to admit, you're in my prayers for life in the hope that the Word of God draws you into His Holy Catholic Church.
(BBS and Patent) Thanks for the heartwarming post(s) from a very proud, fortunate, grandfather-to-be, Pro-Life soldier of Christ who tries to make my Catholic beliefs the focus of my life. I've received many more blessings than I deserve.
Please add me to your bump list.
God Bless.
