Hey no-meat-eaters-on-Fridays-during-Lent!
There are a ton of us Catholic Freepers out there, this is our little thread in the big big world. This is just my way of attempting to get to know people just like me.

That our nation’s leaders remove those U.S. Marshals who guard abortion chambers and station them on airplanes to protect innocent travelers,

That our president may call for a moratorium on abortion while the war against terrorism is waged,
Our Lady of Sorrows, hear us.
That all those injured in the terrorist attacks recover quickly,
Our Lady of Sorrows, hear us.
That the souls of the departed rest in the eternal peace of your Crucified Son, Jesus Christ,
Our Lady of Sorrows, hear us.
That the families of all those lost in the terrorist attack may know the comfort of Christ’s constant love,
Our Lady of Sorrows, hear us.
That the parents, grandparents and health care professionals who kill the innocent by abortion may receive the strength to seek Christ’s forgiveness,
Our Lady of Sorrows, hear us.
That the biologists, scientists, pharmaceutical company executives, medical school professors and others who are involved in the daily killing of the preborn may recognize the evil they perpetrate, and repent,
Our Lady of Sorrows, hear us.
That our soldiers, firefighters, policeman, and medical personnel will be protected by the grace of God,
Our Lady of Sorrows, hear us.

I'm Catholic, but not so much as to forego delicious pepperoni on Fridays. (But is pepperoni, after all, really a "meat"?)

I can say without reservation that you Northeast Catholics are different! Since we're about 50% of the population, we don't get the anti-Catholic nuttiness that I see here. Sheesh. The stuff the rest of you have to put up with!

Since we're about 50% of the population, we don't get the anti-Catholic nuttiness that I see here. Oh, have you been called an idolater, too? Ha! Yeah, there's a lot of that, unfortunately. I'm always amazed when fellow Christians express suprise when they discover that we believe in the Risen Christ.

As with Americanwoman who has lurked a long time too, welcome aboard. Thank you for joining the conversation. Your presence is appreciated. I can imagine that you feel lonely in N.C. as a black Catholic, but as a conservative Catholic woman in New York(and that can be lonely!), I occasionally think of our Catholic brethren in China who suffer and are persecuted. I admire their courage and know, in light of that, how lucky I am to be in the presence of my fellow freepers and my fellow Catholic freepers here. V's wife.

Catholic convert here, but I'm not the only convert on Free Republic, I'm happy to say.
I have many favorite Catholic Internet sites, but one I particularly like is Creighton University Daily Reflections . You can download several weeks of Daily Reflections and the day's Bible readings to your Palm Pilot or Pocket PC so that you can access them on the go.

Nope, not by a long shot. Made my first communion on Easter Sunday 1999, after 8 years of fighting God and man over it. What a long, strange trip it's been!
So, converts, why did you join the Church? With me it was through lots of study and prayer. I swam the Tiber after a long, annoying (to other people) time as an evangelical. How 'bout y'all?
