Never knew there were so many intelligent, clear- thinking people in this country. The recent improvements are a boon to egomaniacs like me, who has always wanted to have access to ALL my replies without going to GOOGLE. I found out that they number close to 1000.

Discovered FR late in 1998 through the Drudge Whitewater link, and I couldn't believe my eyes, there were so many like-minded people here! After lurking for a month or two, I registered in December, and this was the start of my addiction.

What ever happened to quidam? His puzzling posts fascinated me. I miss lots of the old posters, the good and the bad.

lol Now THAT brings back the memories.

I first found Drudge through Rush and then found the link to FR on Drudge. Logged in about two days later in June of '98. I decided that I needed a by-line, and "Yours in Truth" kinda stuck--and has been a real annoyance to people who happen to disagree with me for some reason. :^) I kinda miss the old flame wars and kook threads in a wierd sort of way, but that's just the nostalgia speaking. All-in-all, I think FR is a much better forum now than then.

Although I do miss the Atlanta Freepers getogethers. It's been forever since most of us last met in person, barring that one Dubya rally during the primaries.

Probably. I don't know that the Catholics and Orthodox on FR get it any worse than anyone else around here, and a number of you (as with any other group) give as good as you get. It's all part of life on FR.

Yes there were lots of mindless posts, and entire threads devoted to inside jokes -- and not the good stuff like "All your base..."

And when rhings got out of hand, the entire thread was pulled, not just the offending post.

Hell, I remember when it was a link on Drudge called Whitewater Reports, or something like that. I had just figured out that there was something called the internet. I was asking people to help me figure out how to use it and nobody really knew so I figured it out on my own. I haven't been sane since.

I remember the White Water link too. Took me forever to figure out that there was more to FreeRepublic besides that. I remember not knowing about HTML or size of font. For weeks I would see bold/off, and couldn't figure out what that was. I thought it was somthing in the reply. Like that Freeper was being too bold. When I saw Color/off, I figured that couldn't be something dealing with race so bold must not be dealing with attitude.

LOL. Pretty funny. Whitewater Files (not Reports) was about the only place you could go that wasn't praising the traitor in the WH. The world has changed a lot in seven years. Thanks will never be heaped high enough on Jim Robinson's head to suit me.
