The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

Sorry, I was not clear. Send your boys to a Jesuit high school in the 50's.I was bemoaning the state of those schools currently. However,I believe the RCChurch is about to go through a tremendous cleansing which will leave us purer and poorer and stronger and far more able to do what Christ asked.

Ron Paul is interesting however he belongs to the Libertarian Party whose platform includes Drugs for everyone, Abortion for everyone, license to anything. It is just short of anarchy.

Is supporting abortion rights official Libertarian policy? I know there are pro-life libertarians, whose arguments abotu violating a person's right to live are stronger than the boilerplate "woman's right to control her body" arguments.

As for drugs, we need not be anarchists, but we should be rational.

I think people like Kay Bailey and Phil Graham are rinos.

I think you are right about Kay Bailey. She and the other Republican women(including the sissy from RI) are the reason why the Senate Republicans refuse to fight for Pickering.

Men, humans, the Bible..........all created by God. Typical of catholics to dismiss most things spiritual and give glory to men.

One is curious as to how ironic you meant this statement.

For it was exactly the follow up point I was going to make, but failed to. That any acknowledgment of the human element of the plan of slavation, is seen by the NC as an attempt to take somethign away from God, denying glory to Him.

Interesting.

Ya, try not to say "allelujah" for 40 days. That one's a killer.

You ought to try it sometime. I didn't say it was strenuous, or physically demanding. I said it leads you to truly reflect upon the word and the wonderful thinks God has done for us which cause it to leap out of our lips.

No thanx. I won't abstain from any words that give glory to God.

If they haven't been, then you'll have to throw out the Bible, and all other historical documents before about 300 A.D. We have no original manuscripts, and even the original manuscripts themselves, whether you're talking about scripture or anything else, were written to a great extent from word-of-mouth testimony.

Excuse me. The Bible manuscripts were not stated verbatim in the 33ad and then suddenly written down as inerrant in 2002. Your comparison is as useless as your tradition. And we aren't talking about mere word of mouth testimony, either. Word of mouth testimony assumes it comes from someone, first hand who knows just what the heck they're talking about because they were witness to it. No one in the Catholic church can claim that. Any more bad appeals to reason that you wish to make?

We give you the historical evidence -- from Irenaeus, Justin Martyr, etc., but you reject it because you care nothing for the truth, which is to say, you care nothing for Jesus, because he is the Truth. You care for nothing but your own manufactured religion.

One, you need to stop looking in the mirror and speaking to me. If you speak to yourself, you get your point across to yourself. My religion isn't manufactured. I follow Christ in Spirit and truth. I don't need false piety as in whipping myself to make myself seem to suffer for God (oh boy) or such nonsense as all that. I reject the garbage that is produced and called gold. I reject forgery that is offered for genuine. I reject what is unproven, unsupported by fact, inconsistent with scripture and highly intermingled with known fraud and forgery. Of course I reject many of your sources. As many as are frauds or have no authority from which to speak, I'll denounce. You produce someone that is consistant fully with the scriptures, just one person, And I might begin to listen to something they had to say - so long as it too is in line fully with scripture. You can't even do that. If the Devil writes a book, talks about jesus in nothing but lies that we would not have a way of proving lies, then passed them off as the writings of Ignatious, how would you know they were fraud. If they looked smelled and acted 100% genuine, how would you know they were bad? You probably wouldn't. Your Church, the RCC, Has a demonstrated and proven track record for not knowing and for using known frauds - both. So on what basis are you going to sit and claim that the RCC has the first CLUE as to what inspired scripture is if they don't know and would just as readily sell you a fraud to further their goals.

You don't think it would have made a difference if Jesus had sat down while He was here and wrote a book for us? The fact that He did not speaks volumes to me about how much importance His ministry placed on writing and how much it was about people.

It speaks volumes to me, too.

I'm to the point where I just find the entire Senate repulsive.

What do you think about Lott? Everytime I see him I want to grab him by the neck and throttle him. What a "leader!"

And of course, the all knowing, all seeing, Word of God on earth, Havoc, if transported back to the days of yesteryear, would instantly be able to tell that the forged decretals were forged. Just by examining them. What a talent he is.

Santorum still has my respect. But let's say this much. If Bush signs the "campaign finance" bill, the Republican party has lost my support forever.

I said that Jesus (the second person of the Trinity) did not write a book while he was here (meaning earth, referring to Jesus's Incarnation as a human, an event that took place in time and space.) What part of that is hard to understand? Jesus didn't write a book while He was here. He didn't. Sorry you don't understand simple words.

No, I understood you double intended words. Jesus may not have written anything while he was here. He didn't have to. And if he had written it, it wouldn't make you listen any more or less unless you first respected Him and secondly respected His word. You may respect Him; but, I've seen no consensus here that any of you esteem His word above that of anyone else. And you certainly don't want anyone making waves by ensuring that they know the Bible enough to know when something taught is wrong.. Come on dave, you're slipping. You forgot to call me a conspiracy nut or something for bringing up the church track record for not knowing what is inspired and what's not - oh wait, just got around to that didn't I.

I like Santorum. I still have a problem with that 100-0 vote tho.

I don't respect your bizarre interpretation of Scripture, but I esteem Scripture, properly understood, very highly. Your apparent megalomania prevents you from seperating the two. I will not worship your twisted interpretation.
