Yes, Mary is the Mother of the Logos.

Wow, then she's a lot older than originally thought.

So your Bible of choice is the Douay-Rheims [DR] Bible per #22135 -- right?

That is one of the Bibles I use, per the message.

You make a valid point about the Epistle to the Romans. If Peter were in Rome at this time or even considered to be a "bishop" there, Paul would have no doubt addressed his letter to him. Furthernore since Peter was the Apostle to the Jews [circumcision], he spent his time where there were large Jewish communities -- and there was no Jewish community in Rome.

The myth of "Peter in Rome" is the foundation of the Roman Church. As this myth goes so goes the foundation. Some say it is irrelevant whether he was there or not, Wrong, wrong, wrong. It is foundational to every RCC sacramental claim. If no Peter in Rome, then no Pope in Rome -- and the entire structure of Marian, Eucharistic, Papal, and other claims upon which the RCC is built collapses like a sand castle.

And then that enire "Upon this rock" interpretation that the RCC has held onto takes upon itself a new meaning, for Peter was the Apostle of the Church in Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the God's Eternal City -- not Rome. Rome's days are numbered and those vicarious myths for which it has become legend.

We were getting the kids to bed when the fumble recovery for a touchdown was called back due to a holding penalty, so I didn't get to see what happened. Was the holding penalty a good call?

Good morning Angelo...technically yeah but not in a Super Bowl game. The same type of thing could probably be flagged a dozen of times in a game...

Could you help me out on something.? I'm trying to find the origin of the name "Theotokos" as applied to Mary. Would you know where that word is used in Scripture and what its meaning is from the Greek? I am looking in a Strong's Concordance and cannot find it.

I thought that during the pregame introduction, they looked loose, and not intimidated (unlike the Giants last year, who had 'failure' stamped on them before they even set foot on the field).

Yeah, I think they had the game already won in their minds and being introduced as a team instead of individuals spoke volumes about their mindset.

Buh bye, Madden and Summerall. I can't believe they were questioning the Pat's decision to try to score with almost 1:30 left. The Patriots played to win, rather than to avoid losing

Really, what some bonehead announcing that was. Play for overtime against the Rams, one of the most potent offenses in the league.

I would say you can't find that word anywhere in the concordance because it isn't anywhere in the bible. I looked in 2 bible dictionarys I have and it's not there either.

Thank you for your explanation. Could you please tell us where Mary is ever referred to as "Theotokos" or "Mother of God" in Scripture? Since it is not in Scripture, where does that originate?

By this term it is impied that Mary is the mother of the Father God, t the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit. Did she give birth to triplets, or am I missing something?

Did God exist before Mary was a twinkle in her father's eye, so how could she precede him? Was Jesus the Son of God long before she took her first breath?

Isn't it true that the most and highest thing that Scripture says about Mary is that she was the "mother of Jesus".? And to leap from that to RCC and OC Marian claims requires a highly active imagination?

, it would consequently come about that his actions would require less conscious reflection on the state of his progress towards God. But I, at least, and perhaps most Christians, are no where near this state of perfection. IMHO. :-) WS

Ain't that the truth? Just when I start thinking I'm God's gift, he reveals something to me about myself that quickly shows me how very very far I have to go.

PATRIOTS 20 RAMS 17

WOW, WHAT A GAME!

Wow, what a script!

I'm a bit sceptical about this "victory." It just seems all too fitting. :o/

Yep. A Patsy defender tackled Faulk (I think it was Faulk) even though he didn't have the ball.

Really? On what is this assertion based?

If no Peter in Rome, then no Pope in Rome -- and the entire structure of Marian, Eucharistic, Papal, and other claims upon which the RCC is built collapses like a sand castle.

Could you please explain what Peter's presence in Rome has to do with the Eucharist?

Only problem is, Jews are forbidden to drink blood. Its hard to be a vampire and keep kosher! ;o)

ROFL. Now that would make for a Funny Horror flick. A kosher vampire. He would starve to death out of guilt. LOL.

I'll put in a call to Mel Brooks.

Theotokos does not mean Mother of God. It means "God bearer."

Theotokos does not mean Mother of God. It means "God bearer."

The term came out of the Nestorian controversy. It was used to make the point that at no time after conception was Jesus only man, but always both God and Man. Nestorians believed that Jesus was man first, then became God. This heresy was repudiated at the Council of Ephesus, which used the term Theotokos or God bearer against the Nestorian term Anthrophoros or man bearer.

Yep, I know I was one of them, but I came over here about a month before most of them did, I could see it all coming to a head and I got sick of everything that was going on over there. I posted there for a couple of years, right after Trixie started it up.

That's right, I had forgotten that!

I posted to the Freeples thread for a little while but it got clickish (sp?) and inane in a hurry. But I don't doubt that they've got us beat on quantity, be have quality and quantity here. LOL

Well, most of the time, anyway. ;o)

Very good call. Marshall Faulk was totally mugged trying to get out on his pass pattern.

I'm glad Summerall is leaving. He's the most boring mundane announcer on the planet.
