Let me expand a little: The reason that I say that "English Majors are pretty worthless" is my own experience as an undergraduate Science major. The English, Sociology, Political Science, Education, and Psychology Majors tended to be people of limited intelligence, and few talents (except for bullshitting). They were just "hanging out", putting off that fateful day when they might have to get a "GASP!) JOB! Some of them were planning to hang around even longer, staying in Grad School well into their 30's. A bunch of Peter Pan's ("I'll NEVER grow up!").

Probably at least two-thirds of the college "students" currently taking up space in this countries "institutions of higher learning" are just wasting their time, and gobbling up taxpayer-financed student loans (which many of them will never make enough money to repay, anyway...)

The whole thing is a racket, run for the benefit of otherwise-unemployable academics and administrators- and Dept of Education Government drones.

Now, ask me how I REALLY feel!

This fellow really ought to do a bit more research. The Soviets didn't bomb Afghanistan for 10 years, they invaded and slugged it out with the Afghanis. We're not planning on doing that. Secondly, the Taliban didn't even come into power until 5 years after the Soviet pullout, so I'm not sure how the Soviet invasion strengthened them.

I thank God every day for my son. He is 13 and watches the news (Fox only) with me every evening. We have a date set up to watch President Bush this evening at 7:00 CST. We have also watched Rambo III twice in the past month. He wants to view the terrain of Afghanistan in the hope that I will somehow manage to get him over there to fight. The boy is all American.
