This is pure, unadulterated bullsh*t.
No, it isn't. It's history. The Crusades lasted from the 11th through 13th centuries AD. The reason was to wrest back Christian territory conquered by the Turks.
In 1095, Pope Urban II called for the first Crusade. The Crusades were successful in that they won back a lot of Christian holy sites as well as land, and in the end, the Crusades were ultimately responsible for supplanting midaevil feudalism with a system based on commerce. Jerusalem was one of the cities freed. So, good things came from the Crusades as well.
However, as with all human endeavors, human greed played a big part in them too. Not everyone was interested in rescuing Christian holy sites. During the second Crusade, in 1144, Conrad III, the Holy Roman Emporer, and King Louis VII of France were so busy quarreling amongst themselves that the Second Crusade was a miserable failure. Even Bernard, Abbot of Clairxaux, said in the army of Crusaders, thieves and murderers outnumbered the men of God.
Islamic extremists are using events of a thousand years ago to conduct their modern Crusades. Hey, they're the ones always bringing up the crusade. The Crusades are one of bin Ladens pet rants. He even referred repeatedly to the people of present day Western civilization as "the Crusaders".
It's these modern, Islamic Crusaders I was referring to as being unpeaceful, as opposed to the plain old, regular old Muslims who live pretty normal lives, like getting to work on time, paying the bills, what do I want for supper, and getting the kids off to school. Those people, the regular Muslim Joes, are generally peaceful.
