Correct. A friend of a friend from Pakistan was visiting here in SF one year. Then, a year later, I heard through the grape vine that the guy was working for cash under the table in NY as a cook! I wish I could remember the name - I would report him to the FBI immediately. (Last week I reported another one who was taking flight lessons back in March.... hmmmmm....)

If you want to piss off the towel-heads.

When a bomb strike in Afganistan is mentioned on the news, or a Palestian is gunned down, everybody that loves America go into their downtown areas and celebrate openly with passing out candy, signs, anti-Islam slogans. Make some effigies of Saddam, Bin Larden etc, beat them and catch them on fire, burn the flags of the Mid-east nations. Continue this until the six o' clock news gets there. If taxi-drivers dont like it, too bad!!!

My question would be how many of these people will be collecting life insurance on their supposed dead AND how much of the money from the relief efforts will they get. Do you think any of that money that honest hard working Americans are raising for this will end up in the pocket of Osama himself because of these people?

I chalk these up to urban myths. I refuse to believe that so many people could know about these attacks without leaks all over the place.

280 MILLION AMERCIANS - Many of whom talk everyday - Some say things just to be noticed. I'd be surprised if someone didn't predict something like that. I would be impressed if he'd said four planes would be hijacked and two would hit the WTC.

I thought of this too. But, decided it would only bring the US down to their mentality.

One thing I noticed with the reporting is that we in America have carried ourselves better than that. We have had isolated instances of people harming innocent Muslim/Arabs. For the most part we have not sunk to 'their' level.

Even when speaking with those affected by the attacks, people have remained composed. No one shouting anti Arab rhetoic and shaking fists in the air. Must be a distinction between the civilized versus the uncivilized? jmo

I am sure you believe your friend. Unfortunately this doesn't pass journalist muster.

I didn't imply that it should. But there were a lot of things reported that first week, locally and nationally, that turned out later to be untrue--journalists hurrying to get things on the air first, whether correct or not. This isn't a new thing but it was particularly bad right after 9/11 when everyone was half-hysterical. So it's equally possible that certain things DID happen but got no coverage at all.

The story about the men on the Jersey rooftop, watching the destruction with binoculars and a scale model of the WTC, I heard on NBC during primetime on 9/13. Have heard nothing whatsoever in the way of followup since then.

All I'm saying is that the bar for what "passes journalistic muster" has dropped considerably in the past few years, and considering the concerted effort being made at the top levels of government to assure the world that "we certainly don't consider this a war against Islam", I no longer doubt that some of these stories have been deliberately suppressed. Maaybe for good reason, maybe not.

But, I do realize that accepting my friend's story would be to expect you to accept a thirdhand account, and that's something I tend to reject myself. So take it with as large a grain of salt as you need.

I think, thankfully, times have changed. Hopefully gun tolerance will increase in the wake. Previous threads have said that gun sales are way up, especially in people who have never owned guns. Too bad it took such a horrible tragedy to wake people up to the glories of the 2nd amendment.

I recall hearing this on FNC, then later they showed a film clip. Evidently a buidling that was facing them had a camera going and they were caught on the camera. If I remember correctly, they were filming the attacks as well as using the binoculars. So there does seem to be somthing to this story about the people on the roof top. FWIW

Do you happen to have a source for the Rather quote? I have looked around and haven't found it. I'm surprised that he'd say something so controversial and it not be picked up by media elsewhere.

I was watching the show. I can't find a transcript of that portion of Rather's on-air time. But I know I heard it, and millions of others did too.

Many good points. I still wish the original poster would reveal his sources, if he has any. Regards

I saw a clip from somewhere, Dearborn MI, I think, the first day. I've seen nothing since. I believe the networks are deliberately NOT showing any footage of demonstrations in US so as not to drive Americans completely over the edge into burning Arab neighborhoods.

Next time I am in my local bar when the owner is there I will verify with him the story of Arabs celebrating in the bar at lunchtime on that day (story is, he threw them out.)

I stopped in yesterday at a Middle-Eastern restaurant I've been going to for about 10 years now, and the line, rather than being out the door, was non-existant. Place was nearly empty, & the staff seemed very subdued.

There was also a report, don't know which network but live that day, of 4 Middle Eastern men who were across the bay with cam corders set up and recording, their voices were rejoicing. They were just there filming the sunrise though.

I am always skeptical of such stories. Especially when memories become clearer and information more specific after the event

Psychics do this all the time. They make some vague prediction that something ominous will happen in the future.

Then, sometime later when something concrete occurs (e.g., an earthquake, plane crash, or assassination), they say that's it, that's what I predicted!

It is certainly possible that some student of some ethnicity said something bad would happen to the U.S. in an argument.

Now after the fact, it is "remembered" that he was Pakistani, and he said the WTC would come down.

Call me a skeptic, but I would like to have more corroboration before I put any credence in stories like this.

>>Hard to believe that a 15-yo knew about this and it managed not to get out to anyone else who may have alerted authorities. Also, that a teacher, after hearing a student say such a thing, would not say ANYTHING to anyone.

Maybe they don't care for their country.
