WJR-AM in Detroit just announced that Rush Limbaugh's doctors at his California clinice will begin their press conference shortly. WJR will carry it live. Tune in locally.
Seems a press release would suffice. It is not like he is on his deathbed. Personally, I think the attention being paid to his earache is insulting to the 6000 DEAD people and their families.
I gave MY opinion, you all are free to watch, and he can have his press conf., and I get my opinion.
Ain't America Great!
Yes, new drugs like Remicade and Enbrel, introduced around 1999, are the greatest breakthrough drugs against auto-immune diseases like Crohn's and rheumatiod arthritis since prednisone in the 50's. Moreover, there are a whole bunch more in the pipeline pending FDA approval.
Please do not PI$$ in the parlor.
Ain't America Great!
Yep, and everyone else gets to comment on your public post. Not all opinions are jewels of wisdom.I don't have access here to the conference. Have they said anything about the permanence of the damage. That is, can the loss be reversed?
Seems a press release would suffice.
A press release? Give me a break. This is an opportunity to field questions. Press CONFERENCES happen all the time. Everyday.
I can't *stand* people that are so full-of-themselves as to believe you have right to tell *me* how much mourning to do, how long to run around in sack cloth and ashes. Stop it. Get over yourself. Please. Be careful not to trip over your ego, arrogance or provincial understandings. While you're at it, maybe you could work on that guilt you must be feeling (and trying to force on us all) because, for some reason you survived, you're still here, you didn't die among the 6000, you didn't suffer enough.
It is not like he is on his deathbed.
Which, I sense, is where you'd like him to be as I read further.
Personally, I think the attention being paid to his earache is insulting to the 6000 DEAD people and their families.
INSULTING? It's been a month, the American people have been "milked" by various 'causes' for nearly $1 Billion in charity given with yet more specials, concerts, events, memorials and whathaveyou to come. Guess what? For some of us, even *directly* impacted by the events of last month, life goes on. This non-stop, this endless memorializing by newsmedia, by clerics, by talk hosts, by politicians, by entertainers only drags out the suffering.
This is no "earache" and to be so dismissive to anyone's serious medical condition is insulting.
What you can't grasp, apparently, is that this is an important story. Rush isn't some high school janitor with a broken leg. This story has very real economic impact: consider the sponsors both national radio show sponsors, consider the listeners, the affiliates, the syndicator, the investors. There's a *REASON* he makes the money he does it's because his show means *big* business.
If this doesn't impact you, if it's not something you're interested in...go away. Please.
This is not national news,
Yes, it is. He's not some yap-trap on your local town public access.
it is his personal medical issue - which he can share, but it is not of national importance.
Again, you fail to look beyond your own ignorance to the reality of the economic and business realities involved. I'd guess it has to start with your loathing of Rush as you envision him be it as an 'evil' capitalist, as some 'egomaniac', or what have you.
My advice to you: Don't tune in. Leave those us interested in this *new* story, a story we care about alone. Go watch the networks. Go flip one-by-one-by-one as they obsessively show us the Pentagon one month anniversary show.
Amazing how I *get* it and you don't. I'm only an occasional listener. Yes, I tune OUT anytime he goes off on his Tiger Woods idolizations and golf tales. Really, I don't have time to listen. But when I do I often find myself at odds with his right-or-wrong naked capitalism and corporate apologist stands, such as with the Microsoft case.
And yet, here I am, defending his right to hold a press conference for those parties interested in getting questions answered about his condition from his treating team of medical personel, the technology being employed by "EIB" to keep his show going and so on.
It doesn't matter when the press conference is, nor who carries it. The people that wish the best of health to Rush will find out, and they are the ones that matter.
So, to Rush's doctors, I say thanks for doing your job, part of which, (like with all celebrities), is to keep the public informed.
Will this auto-immune disorder allow Rush to claim "protected minority" status? After all, those with the more famous auto-immune disease are forbidden from even being criticized. Or is the fact it is a disorder rather than a disease a disqualifying factor?
Remicade costs about $1000 per monthly infusion which comes out to about $12,000/year. Enbrel, which is taken by twice-weekly injection, costs about the same. So insurance companies right now are only reimbursing those who have severe Crohn's or arthritis.
The great news is that these drugs work wonderfully, are almost side-effect free, and are well worth the price. Patients are raving about these drugs in the chat rooms I've visited.
Personally, I think the attention being paid to his earache is insulting to the 6000 DEAD people and their families.Oh you are offended by this 1 single press conference because it's taking 5 minutes away from the 24-7 war on terror coverage we are getting? Can you be more petty? It's not like the media is FORCED to go to this press conference in lue of other things they would rather be focusing on. Get real people. Anyone bitching about this press conference is just a pathetic petty human being with nothing more pressing to whine about.
