Peter Jennings opened the west coast edition of ABC's evening news broadcast with a short, pseudo news segment attacking the Bush adminstration's policy of media control during the current conflict in Afghanistan.
Jennings asked his whitehouse correspondent to confirm that the media was being restricted in the conflict because Bush "didn't want the people to know". The correspondent cofirmed the allegation by repeating the phrase.

He's not an American, so I'm not surprised. Didn't he also call the food drops "propaganda" this week?
To: Amerigomag
doesn't explain "people" = "evildoers" - Jennings is truly evil, though, so I guess he can include himself. On the other hand, even FOX News is blowing it by showing the B-2 bombers leaving from midwest and noting the times they leave and when they're expected to arrive.

Dear Peter:
We don't want YOU guys to know because we all want to stay ALIVE! You guys don't have the sense God gave green apples, therefore, we're quite pleased that you're being kept out of the loop.
Love, love, love
A Loyal American

What?!?
Bush doesn't want the people to know when and where troops are being deployed? He doesn't want people to know how we know what we know?
How dare he deny Peter Jennings? Who does he think he is, anyway?

FYI -- by the time you hear or see a B-2, it's too late. So no one is in danger from Fox News...There also are no anti-aircraft left for the enemy to shoot with. What's the problem?

Who sponsors his newscast? Boycott them and contact them telling them why! I'm tired of writing ABC- they don't care. We can make them care though. Bury 'em Freepers!

Who watches ABC anymore except the extremely elderly who don't have the strength to change the channels and the incredibly naive who don't know any better?

We don't want YOU guys to know because we all want to stay ALIVE! Absolutely. You can NEVER tell when one of them might have an attack of "journalism" and decide he's too important to the WHOLE WORLD, rather than the U.S.!

These "MEDIA A$$HOLES" aren't worried about the people knowing or not knowing, THEY WANT TO KNOW. And I say to them, BS.
I watched a portion of Crossfire on CNN tonight and I wanted to bitch-slap Bob Novak. This program was the most inane, uninformed program that I've ever seen on TV. The guests were trying to tell Novak and Pi$$ant Press that the information that President Bush was worried about WAS NOT PUBLISHED, and if it had been, it would have given aid and comfort to the enemy. Both Press and Novak didn't know what in the hell the guests were talking about.
I came to a conclusion months ago. Most media people are so consumed with sucking up to "sources" and performing "self abuse" with their columns, that they are totally oblivious to what is going on in the rest of the world. 99% of Freepers are better informed than these presstitutes. And this is not limited to Liberals.

Did we broadcast Tokyo Rose into the homes of Americans during WWII? I guess in this age of "fairness" anything goes.

Jennings does not want the White House to control the media? He allowed X42i to control it for 8 stinking years, and now he complains. Of course that was "Liberal" Media Control of the Liberal Media. Give me a break!!!

Dubya needs to task a few of the Delta Force to take Mr. Jennings into the "Night and Fog". Just make him vanish like Chandra Levy. So9

As I recall, the media was constantly being asked to hush up Clinton's scandals. At that time, Clinton "didn't want the people to know," and the lamestream happily obliged.

Britt Hume this evening was talking about the request for the networks to not broadcast Osama bin Laden propoganda tapes unedited. After he discussed how it was possible that OBL was using the tapes to send messages to his minions, he then brought up a very interesting point.
If the White House had sent a tape of President Bush speaking, from an undisclosed locatioin at an unspecified time, NO network would have aired it without reviewing it, and there probably would have been complaints about how the White House was trying to manipulate the media. Ha!
