HELP!! I Can't Get This Song Out of My Head!
Yours Truly ^ | 10/10/01 | Yours Truly

Posted on 10/10/2001 7:36:20 AM PDT by Skooz

Someone please give me advice as to how I can get this horrid song out of my mind. I have always hated this song, and haven't heard it in years, but somewhere in the depths of my subconscious, it has hatched--like a delayed-action explosive device concocted in hell.

The song? "Long-Haired Lover From Liverpool" by Jimmie Osmond. This particular ditty was sprung on an unsuspecting world in the early 1970s. I hated it the first time I heard it ion the radio, and cannot stand it now. But, last week it just popped into my mind and it plays over and over. AAAAAaaaaaahhhhh!!!

Please what can I do to make it stop?

I think you mean Tommy Roe.

I think you're right. Which one did "Crimson and Clover" (over and over)?

Do what I do - get insomnia and watch the Regis Philbin (before he hit it big on Millionaire) "Hits of the 50s" infomercial. I can sing along with every d@mn song at this point.

You might try singing it aloud two or three times. This works sometimes. Just make sure that no one else is around.
Oh, Johnny resin up your bow and play that fiddle hard, 'cause hell's broke loose in Georgia and the Devil deals the cards.
Oh, great. Now look what you did.

Try humming any of the following:

The Cassions Go Rolling Along
Anchors Aweigh
Off We Go
The Marine's Hymn
Semper Paratus.
Hail to the Chief (words provided upon request)

Even if it doesn't work people will know that you support the President and our troops.

"Argh...Summer 1975. The worst 3 months in the history of recorded music."

Hey... Antidote for that from '75...

"Black Water."

Congratulations. The Jimmie Osmond monstrosity has been replaced by the Partridge Family monstrosity.

How do you sleep at night?

THAT was Tommy James and the Shondells, along with 'Crystal Blue Persuasion', remember that one? Hmmm...more signs of a misspent youth.

"Cheese" (sung on Muppets Tonight by the Irish Rodents)

Clifford: Here, straight from their two-week engagement under Carnegie Hall,
are The Irish Rodents.

Rats:
[slow]
When I was a young lad
In old County Cork,
My father said, "son,
don't eat with a fork."
No need to say thank you
No need to say please...
A rat is a natural born lover of cheese!

Cheese! cheese! cheese! cheese!

[fast]
Ohhhh! there's cheddar, swiss, muenster, limberger, jalisco,
Cream, edam, ricotti, havarti, romano,
American, feta, blue, colby [something]
Gouda, [something] jack, mozzarella, and brie...

Cheese! cheese! cheese! cheese!

[another verse]

Cheese! cheese! cheese! cheese!

Ohhhh! there's cheddar, swiss, muenster, limberger, jalisco
Cream, edam, ricotti, havarti, romano, and brie.

[slow]
Oh camembert, the knives,
The knives are carving,
Mozzarella-rella, mozzarella cheese!

Sure there's one kind of cheese,
Brings a rat to his knees,
'Tis the kind dear old mom used to steal

[spoken]
Grab your toast points boys, we're going skinny dipping! Yay!

[rats dive into cheese pot]

Then ask yourself if "Long-Haired Lover From Liverpool" fits this description.

We all know the answer to that one. That song was belched up from the bowels of hell to torment mankind.

You can't do a damn thing to make it stop. You're doomed. Little did you know that Jimmy Osmond would prove to be Osama's most frightening biological weapon ever.

All I can say is, we'd better take bin Laden out before he discovers The DeFranco Family...
