For all who wish a crash course in Islam, it would be noteworthy to remember that in 1998, when Osama Bin Laden issued the order "Kill Americans", he chose the most disparaging term in the devout Muslim's vocabulary to describe his American and other foes, and went back hundreds of years to find it: Crusaders

President Bush did not initiate the term in the current context, but his backing off in deference was a serious error.

The above reminder is from:

JIHAD in The West Muslim Conquests from the 7th to the 21st Centuries, by Paul Fregosi, Prometheus Books, 1998.

A recommended great read, and a painfully condensed rare book of non-existent discussion about the Arab/Muslem version of the Crusades. They were just resting, not gone away.

On Oprah's reading list of course? Probably banned in Boston, or at least at Harvard.

Your post #12...good to bring up the "Crusader" thing, but President Bush wasn't president in 1998. There was a pretender in the Oval Office, name of Bull Clintoon, I think.
