He had been hinting for several months that he had some sort of health problem.
You can send him a note here:
rush@eibnet.com
We should all pray for him. It is times like these where we realize how special -- and how fragile-- God's gifts really are.
In those dark days of 1992,when Bill Clinton won the election, I thought the country was finished and that the only people who thought the way I did were my family and a handful of my fraternity brothers. He gave us hope. May God bless him and keep him safe.
I'm sorry to hear that you have suffered hearing loss. I too suffer from this but not entirely.
You have been heard by millions, and your voice has been a beacon of light, a symphony against the choros of society who shrills a free ride.
To say that you have heard our plight, your voice has lifted us when no other media would listen or relate.
To lose your ear, for those of us who hold you dear, does not bring fear for you will still revear by reading aloud, your voice still heard.
God be with you in this time of self examination. You will prevail and we will wait to listen and celebrate your voice.
Another KFI listener here who missed Rush's explanation, which I had been waiting for. Thanks to those who are posting this information.
sadly there is none - only the prospects of a long drawn out war with ass-hole-ama bin laden and all of his supporters around the world, and the hopes that God will smile upon our nation and lead The USofA to victory over the evil doers...
God sometimes tests us - but have faith - God is good!
I remember the first time I stumbled across Rush on the radio - I thought 'how could anyone say EXACTLY what I'm thinking'? About 90% of the time I still think that.
I can't see Rush staying home enjoying a pity party. I think he will continue to do his show - NO ONE can replace him. In fact, I think this will make him better than ever.
I have NEVER seen someone as focused, optimistic and dedicated to the pursuit of excellence as Rush Limbaugh. I have 100% confidence that he will either beat this thing entirely, or he will continue to do his show to the best of his ability--I have NO doubts!
Rush...You will continue to be an inspiration for Conservatives all across the fruited plain for MANY years to come, no matter what happens to you or us! Thank you for everything!

8. "my best wishes are conditional" If he alters his bigoted, ignorant, and mean spirited behavior I'll have sympathy, otherwise no.

12. "it ahppened to atwater, it could happen to rush" Lee Atwater recanted the nastiness that he espoused in election after election when he was on his death bed with a brain tumor. some people see the light after tragedy.

15. "it didn't stop him last week" Another petty attack was launched against President Clinton on opinionjournal.com, and I assume he was aware of this illness at that time.

10. "no no no no" goddess. you got it all wrong. we wanted him MUTE not DEAF, and usually we only shouted that because we couldn't find that particular button on the remote fast enough. i respectfully ask that you reverse this.
and yes, goddess, i know this wouldn't necessarily hamper his career. he hasn't made his living *listening* to people, so we all appreciate the irony that he may no longer even be able to. but it's still not nice. you should have just gone for another butt boil or something.
disrespectfully yours,

13. "So what?"
People lose their hearing all the time. You guys act like he's got a terminal illness. If he was losing his hearing and had to count on an HMO to get it taken care of, I'd then feel sorry for him.
For crying out loud. It's his damn karma, and we have no obligation to act like this is a tragedy.

16. "Oh the Irony" Kinda ironic that someone who loves to hear the sound of his own voice so much would go deaf.

Savage's biggest handicap (at least the one that makes me tune out) is that he can't carry on a decent phone conversation with a listener. If the caller tells him what he wants to hear, he thanks the caller and moves on to the next one; if he disagrees with the caller, then he calls the caller a name and cuts him or her off.
If he wants to stay in the limelight, he'd better figure out how not to be so thin-skinned with his callers. If he can't debate the callers fairly, then he might as well go back to writing books.
Totally WRONG. God rules all.
