You are right about one thing, it was quite a diatribe.
Unfortunately almost all of it is wrong.
I asked Snow how he described himself and he told me he was a libertarian. He may say different things at different times for all I know. I don't watch every show he is on but I have found his philosophy to be consistent with libertarianism and also in agreement with mine on social issues. I'm sure we disagree on some things.
You have not only misrepresented libertarianism but you accuse me personally of saying things I never said. Then you try to debunk them and set up a perfect little strawman. Nice try.
I was going to respond on a point by point basis but your diatribe is so long, so ill written and so full of hateful rage that I don't even know where to start.
Suffice it to say that you are either ignorant about libertarians or a liar. You seem fairly ignorant so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
Btw, it might be better if you stick to the topics, debate them, and stay away from the name calling.
Now take a few deep breaths and try not to hurt yourself. If you want to debate a point, make them one at a time after you collect yourself. I would be happy to disabuse you of your misconceptions.

Snow is a 'tarian? I knew there was something wrong with him, but I didn't know what.He has described himself in that way even while distancing himself from the Libertarian Party. (which is a popular thing to do when your living depends on being perceived as politically neutral) He also probably has some problems with the party's platform, as do I. The truth is that most people in EVERY party disagree to some extent with their own people.
As for having something wrong with him, he has the same affliction as the people who founded this country. Now you know. Happy to help.
Btw, I don't mind the little slaps, it's part of the fun. What I do mind is when people lie about what libertarians stand for when they can't debate the ideas themselves. You haven't done that so far, so I respect the fact that you disagree with the philosophy.

I'm not insulting libertarians at all. I apologize if anyone took it that way. I consider myself a libertarian- albeit not a purist. I don't think it's mutually exclusive for one to consider themselves a conservative and a libertarian. I was mainly speaking to you, and you alone- because you seem hellbent on bashing everybody else, as though you're morally superior. I believe that most conservatives fall into a category in which they support a libertarian philosophy about government. Buckley, Snow, Limbaugh and most conservatives would support libertarians on most things. But, by your's and most other libertarian's definitions of libertarianism (i.e.- social liberalism, no government involvement in abortion, the drug war, pornography, gay marriage) there is no way that Bill Buckley or Tony Snow are libertarians. Snow wrote political columns that supported banning abortion and euthanasia a few months ago. He gave a speech to a conservative forum in his hometown of Cincinatti earlier in the year about how glad he was to see them campaigning to ban pornography. I listen to as much as I can out of Buckley and Snow, I have never heard him either say that they are a libertarian. I have, however, heard both say regularly that they are conservatives! They are both clearly culturally conservative. Not only by what they support, but because they've said as much. They are conservatives. By your own definition of what a libertarian and a conservative are, neither could ever be considered a libertarian. Now, Walter Williams I truly believe is a libertarian. I adore Walter. I just don't think there is all that much that seperates libertarians and conservatives. Face it we're on the same page. Our real enemy is the Democratic Party and their socialist agenda. Liberalism's long, disastrous march (both fiscal and cultural) has done more to damage our country and the freedoms we enjoy than anthing else!

I do apologize for getting snippy earlier. However, Snow is a Republican. He wrote speeches for Bush #41 and supported Steve Forbes in the Republican primaries. He's also made clear that he voted for Bush and Republicans. He constantly lectures audiences on how Republicans need to be more aggressively conservative. And, he was hosting for Rush during the presidential campaign last summer and he got a call from someone thinking of voting for the Libertarian Party. He said that third parties pull votes away from Republicans and that it was a wasted vote. He said that he was sure Harry Browne was a nice guy, but that he didn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning, and he ought to just give it up. He also said that the Libertarian Party was a joke because it wanted to do away with national defense, to which he replied "most of us think defense is probably a pretty good idea". And, again, he talked about his opposition to their social liberalism. But, he did say that the one good roll they could play is to have even more voices out there putting a smaller government belief into peoples mind.

Hannity or the Great One.....

Finally, only 129 comments before someone with the facts. I have wondered about the voice change that others heard, but only heard it for myself today. I thought he had someone impersonating him, doing the show.
I like W. Williams as a long term replacement.

I'd have to throw my support behind Ann Coulter, Mark Levin, David Horowitz or Tony snow. Any of them would be fabulous behind the golden E.I.B. microphone, sitting comfortably in the Atilla-the Hun Chair. I CAN'T STAND SEAN HANNITY! I agree with the person who said that he's never had an original thought in his life. He has no personality. It's like he's just there to regurgitate things he's heard others say. Rush ought to remove Hannity from the equation altogether. Walter Williams is allright, but I find him a little boring and think it's probably time to put him out to pasture as well. I've seen Thomas Sowell in interviews, and think he's great. I've never heard him sub for Rush, but he'd probably be really good. My dream scenario would be to have Tony Snow and Mark Levin as the two permanent regular guest hosts and Ann Coulter/Thomas Sowell alternating as the third occasional guest host. That would be an equally impressive and consevative line-up.

I always ask the same about Rush. [what has he done/said that is original or insightful]
You're not serious, are you?
His parodies are first class. (E.g. The Vince Foster Movie ad) His analysis is often insightful. (E.g. Ross Perot, grandparents who taped Newt call) His "theme songs" are cute. (E.g. In a Yugo), and he has introduced a number of words or phrases into the political lexicon. (E.g. femminazi, soccer-mom) To be sure he has help with some of this stuff, be he is the final judge of the material he uses.

One more suggestion here:
James Golden (aka Bo Snerdley)
It's too bad Rush has never given him a shot at substituing for even one day.

anne coulter is controversial and very intelligent. radio is a great medium for her, but one can overdose 5 days a week. alternate her with tony snow, laura ingraham, walter williams, and what the absolute funniest man in the world....P.J. o'rourke???????????? BTW, i haven't really listened to rush for about 2 or more years...much too redundant, and i couldn't stand his sports and cigar talk.
