I hope they set the cross up on public property and defy the ACLU to come after it.

This undated photo of two metal beams, center, that form a cross that rises out of the
destruction at the World Trade Center, was made available in New York, Thursday, Oct. 4,
2001. The cast iron "cross," which fell intact from Tower One into nearby Building Six on Sept.
11., was blessed on Thursday by Rev. Brian Jordan, a Franciscan priest, as rescue workers
who have adopted it as a symbol of faith gathered around to watch. (AP Photo/Pool)

Oh interesting. A good reminder that God is with us even in this terrible time, and I hope that someday we will be privy to the good that is going to come out of this.

I don't get the part of the blessing by the priest. Oh Catholic friends- what is the meaning/significance of blessing an item like that? (curious)

Will make a nice addition to the memorial site, but really, what are the odds that there was a cross-brace beam configuration somewhere in a skyscraper. Pretty high!

I mean, it's not built on independent 1000 foot poles, ya know. They're all tied together by something under tension or the thing would accordian down to start with.

Anyway, don't flame me, I'm just saying that this isn't a sign of God, it's a sign of Architectural Engineering, which I suppose is a minor discipline of God and Physics.....

The cast iron "cross," which fell intact

More needless nitpicking: These beams are forged steel, not cast iron.

Even though the reporters don't, I'm sure God knows the difference.

There is another story about a little chapel near the WTC who was not touched at all. I see the prist blessing the cross as symbolic. I think it's amazing the cross looks so good.

I do not see how these people do this work. The images alone send me into deep depression. How much can these people take?

Riiight... there are probably a lot more beams shaped like a crescent (symbol of Islam) in that rubble.

That would be the little Greek Church that faced south?

I think the sign of God is not the cross itself, but the response to it by the men who needed the symbol of hope to keep going.

I guess that's why these guys are special. If the shape of this cross gives them the strenth to carry one, then that's ok with me.
