Since so many on here are 'pairing off' into their own generational groups...and I cannot join any of them because I a member of the loathed GenX group, *I* am going to start a thread of my own, featuring MY website. JimRob, if this is not suitable for your site, I understand if you take it off, but I cannot help myself. The others are having just too much fun!
So, my fellow 80s children, what was your fav music/event/fashion/movie from the decade that featured the best darn President of the 20th century, Ronaldus Magnus????
You'll have to go to my website to see mine!! *wink* *wink*!! LOL

IMO, The 80's was a musical wasteland between the transistion of the classic rock bands of the 70's to the alternative bands of the 90's.
This argument was the the one my best buddy, an 80's freak, and I fought over continuously before he passed away a couple of years ago.

All the reminiscing...I too had the Coleco-Vision game console. Best graphics of any console at that time, but the controllers must have been designed by Stevie Wonder.
My first computer was the Timex Sinclair 1000, bought at the local Venture store for a bagain price of $99.95. Got the expansion pack and a tape drive. I wore the poor thing out (didn't help that it had a very cheap membrane keyboard either.)
I LOVE THE 80'S!!!!

The best thing about the '80s was the Open-Class 2 stroke dirt bikes, specifically the 1983 Honda CR480R, and the 1985 CR500R. (No one will have any idea what I am talking about ... )
spodefly in 1986 on his '85 CR500R. 0 to 60 in 2.5 seconds!

Oh yeah - Preppy was my entire class (we graduated 1985) - Alex Keaton was our Hero.
Hubby used to have this REALLY obnoxious OP shirt...it was bright blue, yellow, orange and red with black tropical leaf overlay...it was 'stunning'...he had a number of OP shirts. He was not afraid to wear them!

Rude Dog? Yeah, I remember that. Sort of like the Target store version of surf clothing.

500 cc's of nasty expansion-chambered 2-stroke power? Woo hoo. Nah, I've never got to ride one myself, or any dirtbike of any real power, but I can only imagine it must be similar to strapping on a 150 HP GSXR-1000 on the street today.

One of the best things I remember about the '80s (aside from being in my teens and 20's during them, with all that that implies) was entering a gun shop in a mall (in NEW YORK, of all places) and exiting with a semiauto Ruger 10/22 with folding stock, two 30-shot magazines, and flash supressor, all for less than $200.00, at age 18. The country was just a bit freer then. My 10/22 came from a sporting goods store in a mall, too! I walked through the mall with the boxed rifle and a bag of ammo and nobody was the least bit concerned. Nowadays, the SWAT team would be called.
Thanks for adding to my nostalgia trip this week - two nights ago WarGames was the late movie on TBS.

I wore the poor thing out (didn't help that it had a very cheap membrane keyboard either.) I sold computers and electronics part-time while in school, so I remember the TI-99 series, the Commodore machines, the Coleco ADAM, and yes, the Timex-Sinclair. As I recall, the Sinclair had a printer that used thermal adding machine-type paper rolls.
IIRC, the Timex machines sold poorly - then one day some guy with a British accent (a rarity in south Louisiana) came in and bought out the store's entire inventory (several dozen TS-1000s). We didn't know at the time that the little buggars were wildly popular in the U.K.; I can only guess that he shipped them "home" in some sort of grey-market importing scheme.

...burgertime? Good game.......played it for hours. Yeah, that one was good. Remember the television ad for the game?
In the ad, two teenagers drive up to a burger stand in which the chef is being chased around the kitchen by giant hot dogs. One of the hot dogs (an actor in a foam-rubber costume with only his red-painted face showing) slams the drive-up window while sneering into the camera "We are CLOSED NOW!"

Wow, that post brings back memories (I was born in '78). I was into all of that stuff, except teasing my hair and the like. ;)
I collected alot of He-Man figurines, until I got one that was based on a skunk. The stupid thing smelled like one when I took it out of the package! It gave me a headache, and somehow He-Man was never the same.

Those 480s were rocket sleds. A lot of people like me accidentally learned to ride wheelies with those.

The 480 was a great all-around dirt bike. It would tractor along at low rpm's and made a great woods bike (26 degree rake made for nice tight steering.) It had a pretty hard hit when it got into the power curve though, so you had to be careful where you are aiming when it hits.
Wheelying the 480 or the 500 was easy ... just roll on the throttle at any speed less than about 80MPH and the front end would come up. I could go for miles on the back wheel ... one handed, even. That was back when I was still immortal.

The Pat Benatar look. Heavy Metal. Fast Times at Ridgemont High and TT Quick. Hanging out at Lamours in Queens and Brooklyn and Manhattans in Spring Valley NY. Driving my 1986 Red Firebird and my hair hitting the roof. It was fun
