I find it ironic that one solution to possible future hijackings is to have an ARMED Skymarshall on the planes, when the "left wing" has been trying to DISARM the public for years!

Also, what's to stop a terrorist from boarding a plane with a sharp hard-plastic weapon? - A pointed one could stab, and some plastics will take a good enough edge to be able to slice - - I don't think either would show up on the security scan...
What about a knotted rope - garotte (sp?)
Without a COMPLETE search of passengers, including a body-cavity search, a complete search of the aircraft's interior (for anything that might have been hidden by an accomplice) and no access to "carry-on" I believe that "where there's a will, there's a way", AND if it happens to be one of the aircraft that doesn't contain a Skymarshall, there might not be any way to stop the hijacking from happening.

Maybe the solution is to allow honest citizens with CCW to be able to board the plane and travel with their "piece" on them.
I can hear the Liberals screaming from here!

They have exploited the death of thousands of people to fill their coffers with blood money.

This pretty much says it all.

I think some jaws are gonna drop when the real retail figures come in and the most profitable sector are means of self-defense and protection like guns and gas masks. The NY stores can't keep 'em in stock right now.

I agree, that is the most sensible solution.
However it is not only the Liberals that will scream, all moderates, and quite a few conservatives will scream at the top of their lungs.
I have made that statement to quite a few people since 9/11. I have learned that the only ones that see that as a soultion are CCW permit holders, we are badly outnumbered.

Why plastic? Non-metalic knives are stone-age technology.

From the web site http://www.tnt.tv Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit New York City relief organizations including the American Red Cross, September 11th Fund, International Association of Fire Fighters, New York Fraternal Order of Police WTC Fund, The National Organization for Victim Assistance, and The Twin Towers Fund in addition to the Violence Policy Center, The Brady Center To Prevent Gun Violence united with the Million Mom March.

I hope that all the talk shows, as well as Fox, picks up on this.

This is why I never donate to general charities, such as 'Come Together'. The same reason I don't donate to the United Way. I don't want any of my money going to a charity I don't want it to go to. I prefer to give directly to an 'end-user' organization.

As far as lethal weapons, I'm afraid that to make airliners truly safe, everybody will have to be locked in their seats. After all, couldn't a terrorist who can learn to fly a jet also learn martial arts, and hence be extremely good at quickly killing people using nothing but their BARE HANDS???

Here (the one at the bottom of the page) is the new addition to the collection. It's so small it fits in the watch pocket of most pants, so it can be easily carried all the time. Only a .22 Mag, but a lot better than having nothing at all and it's extremely well made.

Lacking a rear sight, it's not the most accurate piece, but I hit within 2" of the center of a paper plate at about 6 yards the first time I shot it. Good enough, and I'll practice some more.

Good for those times I'm not with a more substantial metallic companion. I sure feel sorry for those poor sheep in states and countries that demand defenselessness.

If they won't let people fly armed, then make everybody fly NAKED.

I was wondering about the martial arts aspect. A moderately well trained martial artist is one hell of a lot more dangerous than a 3" pen knife.
What are they going to do? Ban certain people from flying altogether since their hands could be used as weapons?
