The nerve of that Marine Corps recruiter telling me I'll too old to re-up!

I said,

He didn't go for it. Should I lie about my age?

MARINES

Remember patriot, when our guys are off righting the wrongs inflicted against us, we'll be here to take care of any domestic troublemakers. That, and someone has to see to it that all those girlfriends and wives of servicemen aren't taken undue advantage of by unAmerican civies... :-)

Also, what's with this "one shot, one kill" business?? One shot from your grenade launcher should kill more than one evildoer, and there's nothing better than a bad guy to practice your 250 yard groupings on (maybe it just all averages out)...

Take heart grey-haired warriors! So far, the fighting is HERE, not THERE. Keep your piece ready. The enemy is still in your backyard in large numbers. You may get your chance sooner than you think.

November 10 to be exact...many of us will be in Washington D.C. for the birthday at the Viet Nam memorial and the Iwo Jima memorial. I wouldn't advise the camel jockeys to try and pull anything that week in D.C. Semper Fi, Mike

We Need You: United State Coast Guard Auxiliary

The Navy said I was too old, The Oregon National Guard would not accept me because I just turned 53.
I met with the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla Commander today
and it turns out that I have a few skills that they need and can utilize.
My application should be approved in about 10 days.
Also as of Sept 11 the Coast Guard itself is under the command of the Department of Defense.
While the Auxiliary is not part of the military, it can and does support military actions.
I'm just glad that this old rusty tin can sailor can help protect our country again.

PS Chief and all Marines: I'd be glad to fight with all of you again, anytime, anywhere.

Brother they need us old Vets to cover the home front ... let's put that sniper experience to good use right here at home ... say Berkeley ......

BTW I went to my good friend Jim who happens to be an Admiral and offered my time to teach electronic for AIMD personnel. After all I helped design a lot of ALRs (ALR-45/69 MRCA, ALR-74 etc). He said he would look into it.

Bless you, and Godspeed. I'll be 53 on Friday, and am trying to figure out if there's somewhere an old stockbroker can serve her country more effectively.

"Try the supply side solution, bribery by booze"

It won't work. They no longer allow any alcoholic beverages at "8th & I".
