Sorry Marine -- You're Too Old

The nerve of that Marine Corps recruiter telling me I'll too old to re-up!
I said,
"But I'm a 2nd Force Recon Scout Sniper that can still pic-a-tic off a gnat's ass @ 1K meters, in a snow storm! We lay-in-wait, and over the last 30 years I've had a lot of experience. Snipers only need to be able to "snoop & poop" and carry a 50 caliber. We don't have to do 50 squat thrusts before lights out, or hump 20 miles in full pack before sunrise! Put me up against your best 20 year old. It takes a lot to get a snipers heartrate up, 'cause we've been trained to "relax" if you want "one shot -- one kill", and I invented "relax". I'll die my hair to cover the gray, get lippo-suction and a face-lift, if you can push this paperwork through, Sergeant."
He didn't go for it. Should I lie about my age?

Bump. I miss the guy (as always).
Like CHIEF, I was told that I was "too old" to come back into the Marines right after 9/11.
I told the recruiter to be more respectful of his elders, or I'd beat him with my cane :o)

I too called and asked but my current physical condition, 4 compression fractures and a bone spur the size of a golf ball on my spine made me realize I would be a greater threat to my team than any help I could provide short of manning a phone in a CONUS EOD control center .
Too many thin air PLF's and sudden stops so I'm relegated to easy days in civilian world now........ As any dog will do over time I checked the lenght of my chain like a bunch of other old troops. I have to stay in the yard now :o)

Whooops ....didn't mean funny that way......
T-10 and C sumpthin location....they "said" they'd have to go in thru the front of my chest. If I can "live with it" as is they say I should'nt try and fix it. Lot's of little pains down my left side of my body, weird little things .
My golf ball analogy was a big large.....maybe a marble or bigger. Anyway its pressing on the sleeve that holds the nerve's according to my Doc. And the nerves are not happy.
Massage , minor pain meds and lots of hot tubbin and Corona seems to keep it at bay. No hard physical stuff short of small chores around the house ect ect.
It is controllable so far but sometimes it's like that steve martin movie where lili tomlin is controlling half his body........weird .
Stay Safe Pooh !

JUST CALL ME QUIGLEY: SHARPS 45.70
The CHIEF would be licking his lips for a chance to fire this thing!
Anyone who makes our shoot in New Braunfels on May 17th will get a chance to shoot what the buffalo hunters made famous.

OUTSTANDING!!!

Hopefully the current investigation of the Harris County Coroner's office will uncover some overlooked evidence in Chief's murder case. a shame that such incompetence should allow Chief's killer to still be on the loose. :(

The first time I put that thing to my shoulder I fell in love with it!
You remember how we were taught that in the offhand position you draw a figure "8" and squeeze the trigger at the crossing point of the "8"?
You don't have to draw a figure "8" with this weapon!
As heavy as it is, you can hold it on the target in the offhand position. The balance is perfect!
I have never seen any weapon as well balanced as this rifle!
I have no doubt that Quigley could have shot that bucket at five hundred yards over and over in the offhand position.

As we all know there's been some major shake-ups in the Houston Fire Department as well as in the HPD.
I have to go back to the rig tomorrow, but Wednesday I'll go down and talk to the Chief Investigator.
Maybe the shake-up shook loose some evidence.
To: humblegunner; Eaker
I'm off to the rifle range!
I need to make some noise!
Y'onna go??
OH! I forgot!
You peons have to work for a living.
I'll try to have enough fun for all of us.
I'll go by Fountain Firearms and collect that 300 rounds of .50 ammo for the shoot.
I hope my truck can haul it.......

Massage , minor pain meds and lots of hot tubbin and Corona seems to keep it at bay.Hmm. Sounds like it's livable.
No hard physical stuff
The Fetching Mrs. Poohbah would NOT like to ever hear that news.

Well, I'm back from the range.
If I described either one of these weapons as awesome, it would be a gross understatement!
Orgasmic would be a better description.
Firing them is the closest thing to sex I've ever experienced!
I pulled a bobbyd and got scope-bit by the Barrett, but the blood was pouring into my left eye so it didn't bother me any - it's almost blind anyway.
The Sharp's 45.70 kicks comparable to a 12 gauge shotgun, but it's got a steel plate for a recoil pad so you've got to have it in your shoulder.
The Barrett kicks harder than anything I've ever fired, and it will push you back!
Once you feel the power of that thing, though, you'll be hooked!
Now I've got to make a fast run to the emergency room to get my collar bone set.
To: TexasCowboy
TOOOO COOOL!!!!
Can't wait!!!
Ummmm......did you hit anything???

"As any dog will do over time I checked the lenght of my chain like a bunch of other old troops.

I get out of the yard every Thursday.
PLUS I get time underway also, including night helo ops.
2 different nights in Feb the helo almost hit the top of the 47' Coast Guard boat.
