Sorry Marine -- You're Too Old

The nerve of that Marine Corps recruiter telling me I'll too old to re-up!
I said,
"But I'm a 2nd Force Recon Scout Sniper that can still pic-a-tic off a gnat's ass @ 1K meters, in a snow storm! We lay-in-wait, and over the last 30 years I've had a lot of experience. Snipers only need to be able to "snoop & poop" and carry a 50 caliber. We don't have to do 50 squat thrusts before lights out, or hump 20 miles in full pack before sunrise! Put me up against your best 20 year old. It takes a lot to get a snipers heartrate up, 'cause we've been trained to "relax" if you want "one shot -- one kill", and I invented "relax". I'll die my hair to cover the gray, get lippo-suction and a face-lift, if you can push this paperwork through, Sergeant."
He didn't go for it. Should I lie about my age?

Many thanks for the web sites. I went into www.opsos.org and found a "Any Sailer/Marine" FPO address. Typed a letter and introduced myself and said my family and I were deeply concerned and proud of our U.S. military. Said I understood he/she might not be able to write back often and that was okay, but our letters and packages would be frequent. Thanks again! Our military personnel - where would we be without them?

"And now, in CHIEF's honor, I shall go bump the old favorite, A Sniper At Peace With His Duties."Ah, well... This great article seems to have disappeared from the archives.

If this is truly a battle between good and evil, then God is assembling His troops and He needed you in His Marine Corps. I know you will fight valiantly.

I am a newbie here and I am sad and sorry that I did not get to know you.
I can tell you are loved by all the FReepers here.
I am sure that I also would have been very fond of you also if only I would have gotten here earlier.
May you rest in peace and even though I didn't know you...your family and you have my prayers.

God bless you, Sir. The streets of heaven are better guarded than ever.

Just got home from the gym and found that you were gone. That is one of those things about living on the other side of the world, you don't always get news as quickly as you should.
Although I did not know you personally, I always enjoyed your posts here. You will be sorely missed. But, God had a new slot open up and needed a good man for the job.
In my mind's eye, I can see you sitting in a hide overwatching the Pearly Gates. Godspeed and good hunting Marine.

After I posted in the thread about what had happened to you dear CHIEF. I had to get offline. My heart just hurt too much . You touched my life and our friendship meant so much to me.
Thank you CHIEF for all you were down here on earth to me and so many of us that you met.
Tonight I sat outside and looked at the midnight blue sky and saw a star that must have been your ride to Heaven. It shown so brightly and glowed with the same pride you had as you served this nation and fought for my freedom.
You will always be in my heart forever and our friendship will always be a bright and shining memory in my life.
