Well said, Hugh.
It took us from December '41 to Aug '42 to respond with the Doolittle raid.
It took from Aug '90 to Jan '91 to respond in Kuwait/Iraq.
Why are we expecting this to happen so quickly now?

I can think of a few reasons, such as getting the right assets into the right place, and performing the reconaissance that the field commanders think is appropriate.if in this day and age this is the best we can do, then we've managed to catch up with the brits at about the time of the boer war. it does not take any field commanders or resources in place to transform saddam's palaces into miniatures of the current world trade center. it takes no troop movements to wipe out saddam's industrial and electricity generation capability, as well as every military asset he has. it does not take three weeks to get into a war, and if it does, then the war is lost already.

The package, which was received around 11 a.m., emitted a "whoosh" sound when opened, workers said.
Let us pray that when the package was put together that some knucklehead accidentally
packed his triple bean and beef burrito with sour cream into the box.
Sitting on a loading dock at room temp for three or four days would make for a
pretty nasty "chemical agent".

Plus trying to short circuit the second wave that will probably follow our attack.

Remember what Bush said in the speech before Congress...some of our victories will never be known. We live in a voyeuristic and microwave society -- everyone wants to see everything NOW. It ain't gonna happen that way.

One question....
Is the KING safe?

Either there's a lot of coincidence's happening or the terrorists are practicing phy ops on us. Um, wonder which one! Doesn't sound like EITHER one to me. Sounds like some TN guy getting his jollies by sending something foul smelling to the Primus building so he can see his handiwork talked about 'ad nauseum' on the Evening News.

Could it also be that there is more reporting on incidences such as these than there was before 9-11?

My opinion is that Colin Powell and the dove elements are scared sh*tless, and justifiably so, that the entire Islamic world is about to blow up in their faces. They are correct. Their error is that we can somehow come out of this better by pussyfooting around and acting like ballerinas. We can only come out of this by kicking some a$$ hard, then when the other countries rise up, offer them the same and more, until they get the picture that we are SERIOUS this time. No negotiations, no excuses, NO CONSENSUS REQUIRED. You're either with us, or you're with the terrorists. George W said so! Now let's see some action! LET'S ROLL!!!

Probably the same leaking package. Since they didn't find it and ID it teus. nite they delivered it. The hospital evidently let the folks go w/o IDing what made them sick. No terrorists here, probably some adhesive related chemical just leaking into the overpack.

No, most plausible explanation is Mass Sociogenic Illness..which is basically the politically correct term for Mass Hysteria. Many clearly documented instances of it in medical literature; completely sane people can make themselves VIOLENTLY ill entirely through their own mind.
Key characteristics are:
1) Not all people in vicinity are affected
2) Affects women and children more than men
3) Transmitted by "line of sight"..that is, one person sees another become ill, and then becomes ill themselves.
MSI has been behind a lot of acute "sick building syndrome" cases, and also has occured a lot in schools.
Given the current climate of fear, I suspect we're going to see a LOT of MSI related to fear of bioterrorism in the next few months. The problem is, the entire medical community is aware of it but they find it awkward to discuss with the media...no one wants to be told it's all in their head. It's not a very popular explanation.
