Are there pictures of any more people? Past threads have stated that there were at least 100 counterprotesters, and an opposition media website seems to agree with this figure, but it doesn't look like there are that many. Where is everyone else?

I thought I should share something with you folks. It probably isn't anything new to you, but there is a small but vocal group of young people who make up the bulk of the "peace" protesters. As president of a chapter of the Young Americans for Freedom at a major university, I have been exposed to some in their ranks. They haven't conducted any protests here, but they have circulated a peace petition around campus. In response to this, I started a campaign of patriotic fliers that were posted around campus. I also wrote a letter to the editorial page of the student newspaper here, detailing the foolishness of the "peace" activists. I got my first piece of hate mail tonight. Here it is:

i just read you letter to the editor in the september 28th issue of the review. i agree, i terrorists responsible for destroying the world trade center and damaging the pentagon certainly lack the moral understanding of the worth of a human life, but i ask you this: what about the innocent afganis that will die when we attack their country. the majority of the people there do not support the taliban regime has forcefully taken control of their country. they are oppressed by them! how can you justify killing a person that has had absolutely no involvement in what happened on the 11th?! you and your "young americans for violence" need to think these things out. before you go labeling others as hateful and immoral, you need to have a reality check. it's right wing, vengeful hypocrites like you that infest this otherwise peaceful nation. american or afgani we are all human. humans died on september 11th and humans will die when we attack afganistan. does the taliban need to be stopped? of course it does! but maybe it's time the US took a minute to understand why the world in the state it is right now. we need stop playing geo-politics. we are the reason the taliban was created. we are responsible for this, like a four-year-old we have been passing the blame for years.

Thank you for your letter. I think it is obvious from your letter that it is now clear which faction is the hateful one. You are the ones that full of hate, hate directed towards those who disagree with you. Before you go around labeling someone, try getting to know them first. I am a first generation American on my father's side, and second generation on my mom's side, meaning I'm mixed race. I'm not your stereotypical "right-winger." Get your facts straight. Get your mind out of the "Blame America First" mentality. I was quite civil in my letter. Please try to return the favor. I respect your side's opinions for the most part, try to have respect towards mine. I don't want violence any more than anyone else. But we have been attacked. You know my viewpoints if you read my letter properly. Try to understand where I'm coming from. Have a good week.

All the proof that we need to be bold in defending our nation agaist enemies, both foreign and domestic.

There was a swell of people standing with us as the march drew near--mainly people who went looking for an announced counter rally by another group at the Washington Monument that was cancelled without notice. Most of them joined in with our counter-chants or held small American flags.

The sidewalk from 9th Street to just before 7th Street where the mounted Park Police were was two to four people deep when the Communists/anarchists rallied at the Navy Memorial. About 65 people bunched up by the mounted police rather than stand on the front lines.

Our numbers started out at about 40, then grew to about one hundred an hour before the march. We had just around double that when the march stopped at the memorial.

Whatever count the media had is accurate for when they counted, so I'm not going to criticize them for that.

I'm not trying to inflate our numbers--whether it is one hundred or two hundred, the yahoos had thousands more people on the street than we did.

That much is obvious. ;-) Thanks to you and all of the others who stood for our God-given liberties. Apparently, they're going to have another rally in October. We should try to organize another counter-rally.
