Iran Assembling Arab Coalition Against Action Against Afghanistan
MSNBC Television | 9/30/2001 | Kevin Tibble

Posted on 09/30/2001 1:52:58 PM PDT by rumrunner

Kevin Tibble of MSNBC just reported inside of Eygpt that Iran is assembling an Arab coalition to oppose any United States actions against Afghanistan and the Taliban. Reportedly Mubarak has met with Iran and is signing off on such a position. The Arab coalition will contend that unless such action is under the auspices of the United Nations then it is illegitimate.

China probably already has troops disguised as civilians in this country. They probably have weapons smuggled in through the Long Beach port that they control. They have the Panama Canal secured. They have installed Silkworm missles along the Iranian coast near key shipping lanes. They have troops in the Sudan. The Chinese have also help Saddam Hussein upgrade his anti-aircarft defenses. Furthermore, it has helped Pakistan develop nuclear weapons.

Duh! Actually, I have never personally known a nasty Iranian. When I lived in Ahwaz, Iran, they were all nice, wonderful people. I loved them and their country as I loved Riyadh and Saudi. :))

Now, I did run into some Jordanians at our local university and when I greeted them in Arabic they got quite upset and wanted to know how I knew Arabic but I don't hold that against all Jordanians.

Even our Ethiopian driver was wonderful. :)) I can't think of any in the Middle East that I ran into that were mean to me in any way.

Hmm except for the idiot that knew we were getting on a plane in Shiraz to go to Saudi and that person called in a bomb threat. Luckily, I was more afraid of the large black dobermans they brought onto the plane to sniff the passengers as they left the plane and the inside of the plane than I was of the possibility of a bomb. I think I have pictures of the plane and captain of it because he let my brother go sit in the cockpit for a bit. I didn't want to...Probably because I was still upset about the dogs and the bomb threat.

Another interesting little snippet is that Arab nations refer to the "Persian Gulf" as the "Arabian Gulf" on all their maps. They also supported Iraq financially in the Iran-Iraq War. One of the biggest contributors was Kuwait.

It needs to be noted that gratitude is not considered a virtue by these people. Three years did not pass between the time Kuwait pulled Iraq's chestnuts out of the fire and the murderous invasion of that country.

Another clear distinction is that Arabs speak Arabic, Iranians speak Farsi. Iran has been even less welcoming of displaced Palestinian settlers than Arabic countries. Even with their professed hatred of Israel, Iran has been a major conduit for covert Israeli military support. Much of this was brought out by the Iran-Contra hearings. Oliver North's book Under Fire goes into even more detail.

"30 years ago Anwar Sadat was assassinated because he made peace with Israel. Mubarak took over from Sadat."

"Yes, I know that. But it wasn't quite thirty years ago. I remember the t.v. news coverage about it. And I'm 28."

I watched it on tv a few hours after it happened. It was 1981.

I am glad that one so young is very interested in national and world events. We need more like you. :)

Both the Persian (Iranians) and Egyptian people are thousands of years older than the Arabic people. They only became Islamic countries in relatively recent times (by the time scale of their civilizations).

In other words, this will be an extended regional war spreading from Afghanistan to Iraq and probably Syria. For those who have studied and been to the region you know this is a realistic possibility. So overwhelming force to eliminate the Taliban first and then further opponents in the region in an expedited manner is crucial. If anyone thinks that a protracted war is in our favor, they truely are naive.

I wonder why Islamist's don't play football. Wouldn't be because of the pig-skin football would it?

China is behind this. I was just going to say the same thing. There have been many conspiratorial sitings of Chinese troops on the Mexican border. If these sitings are legit, the Red Chinese are waiting to pick us off on our own, unprotected, soil while our military might is being expended 8,000 miles from home.

hmm well if that is in fact the case then should the chinese attack us while our boys take care of mullet boy(the leader of afgahnistan) and Bin Laden then we need to excerise the right to bear arms here..think of it like this in the revolutionary war mere citizens fought against the oppressor so if china gets wise and tries to blindside us then the citizen's of this country should call to arms.

Ignore them. What are they going to do about it? Is Iran going to become hostile to us? Is Egypt going to risk $2bn+ in yearly american aid? Is Iran going to start funding the Hezbola? The UN is irrelivant, and the security council has already voted us their support. They are powerless, and we should rub their noses in it.

This is not surprising. Leonard Peikoff has said from the beginning that Iran should be the prime target of any U.S. retaliation.

Iran isn't an Arab nation.

True, but as of 1999 it was the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism. So, while it's not accurate to say they're Arabs, they do sponsor terrorists, and those in power there do hate us "disgusting" Americans. Wouldn't it be "racist" to single out only Arabs in our retaliation :)

Did you notice the title of the post?

I said nothing about what our policy toward Iran should be. Why you should think I am advocating restraint toward the terrorist government of Iran by pointing out the implausibility of Iran assembling an "Arab coalition" is beyond me.

Iran isn't an Arab nation.

True. ...then dare to do the politically uncorrect and call it an islamic coalition.
