[history]
Two Chinese state-run telecommunications companies are helping the Taliban militia install a telephone system in Afghanistan's capital, according to U.S. intelligence officials.
The companies, Zhongxing Telecom and Huawei Technologies, have been working on the telephone system in Kabul for the past two years, said intelligence officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

I believe this puts the Chinese Communist bastards into the category of those that CONTINUE to support TERRORISTS.
Does that mean that a state of war exists between the US and China.?
Works for me.

This is about as funny as one of my ex-co-workers in IT talking about the great jobs in Africa getting people connected to the internet.
Yeah right Bob, where's the infrastructure to support it? Besides that, I didn't know that they could afford computers on 400 bucks a year. Snort, giggle, guffaw!!!
Too damn funny!

I'm with you on that!

This might be more than just a run of the mill "phone system." Why would Kabul bother to install civilian phones in a place where the rulers ban radio, TV and cell phones? This is too eerie.

It is a good sign that the Bush Administration points out the contradictions in PRC's claims about their relations with the Taliban. Leverage for us...hehe.

Talk about your "waste of time".
If we do have airstrikes..I think it is safe to say that the AT&T building will be one of the first to go.

So... what is Afghanistan paying with? Surely the Chinese aren't doing it for free.

Opium profits? bin Laden's personal wealth?
To: piasa
Or (here's a scary thought) the Taliban's promise to cooperate with China in CREATING terrorism!!!
To: VaBthang4
Actually, I was just thinking the same thing. Kabul Bell might not be a real good stock to own right now.

This is flat out silly. Where are they going to get 130,000 people in one place needing phones?
Horse hockey!

I've said China has a hand in this whole affair ever since the 2nd Boeing 767 cruise missile hit the WTC.

..Hidden hand? I thought a good title for an article might be Tools, Terrorism and Chess. Whether its chess or mah jong there is the possibility of fooling our nation into doing the dirty work by using fanatical tools of a different brand against us.

this may be real bad news for China, they were installing "phone/communications" in Yogo too I believe. But we knew it was fiber optics for air defense......this is very close to putting China on the "supporting terrorist"list
