Oh, so it was YOU

I think I'll live through it though. You really shouldn't be so sensitive - usually I don't do that but somehow I found that picture very funny and just couldn't resist. Loosen up a little bit, have some fun. I don't get all offended by the tons of conservative cartoons (most of them are sorta funny).

Probably not much different than President Bush in response to the terrorists.

Are you kidding? Al Gore would likely have apologized to the terrorists by now and called Ariel Sharon (from a Buddhist temple that he swears to Buddha ne never knew was holding a fundraising event) to tell him how awful it is that his response to the PA caused our World Trade Center to be bombed. Do you study a candidate before you vote?

Probably a lot different with Congress in that I don't think he'd be trying to sneak any tax cuts for the wealthy,

I got a tax cut. I must be wealthy. Nope, still no spare spending money. Not poor mind you, but not wealthy. What about you, did you get a tax cut? Maybe yours wasn't as big as Bill Gates' was. Does that mean that if Bill Gates gets a $1000 gift for Christmas and you only get a $100 gift you would refuse your gift and demand that Bill give his back?

Actric drilling or missle defense sheild into the appropriations bill.

Define sneak. If you count making speeches and telling news reporters what you're doing then, you're right, Bush is trying to sneak Arctic drilling and missile defense through congress.

Gore would've found a way to sneak in childrens healthcare, environmental cleanup and education funding.

What children don't have healthcare? I haven't heard anything about children who don't have healthcare. Recently there was a news report about how the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) was going to have to work harder to let people know they were there. They had a lot of money to spend and nobody applying. Environment clean-up: is there someplace that needs cleaning that I don't know about? Education funding: don't get me started. Bush has abandoned the conservatives by promoting a huge increase in educational funding.

Where do you get your news anyway? Just curious, but I don't remember children's healthcare or environmental cleanup mentioned by either side in the last election. And every idiot knows that Bush was interrupted at a school in Florida to be informed of the Attack on America because he was pushing his education agenda. (Al Gore would have been interrupted at a Buddhist Temple that ... oh wait, I used that one)

In short, same tactics, just a different agenda.

No, I think Gore would be trying to prove that everyone who disagreed with him was a lowlife scumbag like his mentor Bubba always did. Bush employs the tactics of civility and respect - along with obedience to the law. I'm not sure Gore even understands those concepts.

Shalom.

I think that was unfair. I believe the sentiment that franksnbean (I'm sure I screwed the name up) is trying to reflect is not to underestimate the enemy. I for one (though you may also incorrectly label me as you wish) agree that this article promises much but delivers little but rosey hues of overconfidence. I'm not ascerting that we will not ulitmately crush these bugs, but to assume they have no grasp of American History?? comeone thats a big assumption. This is a feel good article. I certainly am 100% pro Bush, pro military, pro action. But I don't think cockiness or underestimating the enemy are in anyones best interests. And I doubt that any one in our military will be acting cocky or overconfident, more like steely, resolved and prepared for the worst.

It would be the height of stupidity to arm uneducated simple males who ostensibly are as likely to turn against them as not.
I guess you've never been to Texas
I understand the Taliban only represent about 10% of the ethnic/religious minority in Afghanistan. If that's a fact (and I don't know that it is), they would almost have to arm people from a different group to have any sort of army.

"and squeeze them psychologically."

This is why I thought the original name for this war should have been "Operation Anaconda". What do ya'll think?

I think my point was that politicians shouldn't be using the 9-11 response appropriation bill to advance some other agenda. Perhaps my point was too subtle.
I wasn't trying to be exactly factually accurate in which agenda was being pushed, only used examples of typical conservative and liberal causes associated with the people in question to illustrate my point that BOTH would probably do the same sort of thing just from their particular perspective. Since this was a what-if scenario (we could never know how Gore would've handled it) I think I had some license to generalize.

Seriously, even us Lefties have to admit that Bush hasn't handled this so badly. I think he is progressing along reasonable lines. I could make a couple of criticisms but nothing substantial. All in all, no complaints from the Left.

Really?

You don't even mind looking like idiots after all the lies about Bush's stupidity and incompetence?

I see JimRob removed Message #34. Apparently no sense of humor. I guess one of the cry babies that dish it out everyday couldn't take it and had to tattle.

Cry babies, did you say?

This will be a long anf in many cases frustrating haul. I didn't mean you specifically I was refering to the sense I get from many who are upset and seem to have the attitude that we should bomb right away, just ot show we are 'doing something'.

I will grant you that license, but if you can not see the character differences between President Bush and Gore then I would recommend you get a new set of glasses.

If nothing else, I doubt that President Bush would ever have defended a man against a charge of rape by saying, effectively, "It doesn't really matter if he did rape her. He's done so much other good and he should be judged by that, not some 20 year old rape."

Shalom.

isolate the terrorists physically and squeeze them psychologically.

Squeeze them physically too.

For another interesting foreign perspective, check out the following from Ireland:

How September 11 changed the world in which we live

Nobody bumped it, but I thought it was very insightful.

Excellent article! Had not heard of the Taliban dragooning other Muslims to serve in their army's!

Looks like they can be fractured fairly easy.

See some of the other articles using the link in my previous post!

Don't forget the overwhelmingly leftist faculties at the U.S. universities attended by the terrorists.

I used to work at a university, the stories I can tell about those commies with tenure...PUKE!

But of course you didn't answer the question.

Are you willing to admit that the Bush-is-a-dummy party line you guys all parroted was dead wrong?

Or are you in the camp that's trying to pretend he suddenly improved?

I can't even believe that they are letting Jesse go over there. What is he going to do threaten to boycott their Opium fields? "Jesse Jackson is my name, extortion is my game" Or maybe he's going over there to see if he can make some more illegitimate 'chilren'.
