yep, It's sad really to even see a pic like that (even if it is fake)

A friend of mine from ENGLAND has been to the WTC towers so often with friend/family coming to visit...she could fill an album of pics from up there. She had just been there end of August.

We were just talking over the wknd if any people would've been up on the observatory (tourists) at that time...She thinks it would've been open.

Looking at the pictures on the WTC site I just posted is so sad...so much life revolved around that place.

Americans have been brutally attacked, murdered and robbed for what!?

Gran, I've had dinner at the Windows on the World restaurant in Tower One. The restaurant was maybe two or three floors down from the top of the tower. I don't recall seeing anything about an observation deck mentioned. :)

Is that the restaurant where Meg Ryan and about-to-be-ex-fiance are having dinner in Sleepless in Seattle before she runs out to meet Tom Hanks at the Empire State building?

You're welcome. I was going to ping all the FReeoples to that thread, and then decided to just post a link.

I looked at the photo, grannie9, and it looks quite fake to me.

What part exactly, looks fake to you??

Yes, I think you're right... it had some fairly narrow windows. The link that Sunny just posted cleared up my doubts about an observation deck.... there wasn't one in Tower One, it was in Tower Two.

from Here:

"From the observation deck on Two World Trade Center it was possible to see 45 miles in every direction. "

I can't see any paste lines around the subjects in the image, but the picture has been worked on a lot, opened and closed as a jpeg many times, and has a lot of bad artefication throughout. Let me look at it again in an image program and see what else looks screwy.

the answer:

Though it's on the small side, if you look closely at the picture you can just make out a panoramic view of Midtown Manhattan behind the blissfully unaware subject, indicating that the photographer is facing north. Only one of the planes that hit the World Trade Center on September 11 approached from that direction: the first, American Airlines Flight #11, which struck the north tower (One World Trade) at 8:45 a.m. The trouble is, the north tower had no rooftop observation deck such as pictured here. Even if it had, it wouldn't have been open to tourists at that hour.

Wow, 45 miles. I had no idea you could see that far. It's all pretty chilling.

To: anyone who gives a damn...
well, that pic may be a hoax,
but the fact remains that hundreds and hundreds and hundreds
of our fellow citizens looked out their office windows on
september 11 and saw just about that exact view.

since i posted the link above for the FReep in DC on saturday,
i've been checking out some of the traitors' sites and it
looks like this one might just get ugly.

Mo, forget my 'invitation'.
i'm prolly gonna leave the wifey and (at least) the youngest boy home for this one.

DC chapter rules, as usual, apply for this event.
but even DC chapter rules can't forbid self-defense if necessary.

it's been said that courage is the strength to act in spite of fear.

i would sincerely urge any who are close enough to do so to please join us.
numbers will be more important than ever before.

we have young men and women flung across the globe at this moment,
waiting to go in mortal harm's way against our foreign enemies.
if this goes on as long as President Bush says it will, there's no doubt
that the two young men who live under this roof will be joining them much too soon.

surely there are enough of us blessed with either the means
or the proximity to help counter this shameful public display
by our domestic enemies as they bring aid and comfort to our
enemies within a literal stone's throw of our President and in full view
of the leftist networks that will delight in beaming their treason around the world.

believe me when i say that i have no desire to be a casualty,
and will do everything in my power to keep from becoming same.

but at the same time, i don't want to have to live with the
knowledge that, when there was an opportunity to stand up
for what i espouse in here, and i had both the time and gas money
to get there, i chose to stay safely at home, watching a ball game,
grilling burgers, and 'kickin' ass' with nothing but a keyboard...

That hour in the stairwell must have been the worst of their lives, not knowing how close the end was, wanting to panic and climb over everyone to get down. When I saw the impact points, they looked to be lower than the 80th floors, which I thought made escape from above that almost impossible. The first crash came in lower than the footage of the burning tower suggests.Did you see that clip of film?It was remarkable.

There is a leftist "peace" protest in the works for Austin this Saturday, including a march to the capitol. Some Texas Freepers are planning to counter protest - and it looks like they are expecting trouble at this one, too.

That makes sense - I've never been to the east coast and have no idea what any of Manhatten looks like in person.

Well, first off, the clothes, it was a warm day.. and I don't think a building that high would have that kind of railing for an observation deck, too low, too weak with no signs of glass, witness the Empire State.

The plane looked like it was inserted into the pic. I do digital photography too, and it just hit me all wrong.

Oh and most important? For that time in the morning and the layup of the pic it seems the sun is coming in from the wrong angle... It looks like it's a lot later in the day..

I haven't looked at it again, but that's just from memory.

Last and foremost, I think the guy taking the pic would have probably crapped his pants and dropped the camera at that point. LOL

It looks like the airlines are seriously considering a ban on carry-n luggage. I wonder if this would include laptops and camera bags, too. I hardly ever get to fly, but if I have a chance again I want to take pictures.
