The keys were to the cockpit door--given that the cockpit doors are not much more sturdy than a piece of dry wall and can be easily kicked in, the keys were nothing but show.

Unless there was an airline ID involved, it may just be a cockpit visitor - prior to push-back. Several scenarios are possible.

The "Jump Seat" privilege normally requires an airline ID - a license isn't supposed to be enough. American & United are both tough to get a jump-seat. Additionally, a special form is normally required to be filled out to the the jump-seat.

It's worse than that..FoxNews just reported that there were a score of other "pilots" sitting in the jumpseats in planes that never took off. I think I heard the number "12". It is/was a courtesy to allow other pilots to have a complimentary seat in the jumpseat of other planes. Can you imagine there were 12 other "terror pilots" in place? They don't know where those persons are now. God Bless America.

If we are talking about one of the four planes that crashed on 09/11/2001, this would have to be the plane that crashed in PA, as the CVR that crashed into the Pentagon was too cooked to recover any useful information. Or was this *another* plane?
