You're right, the People's Republic of California is a good place to START on one's journey to becoming truly a free and independent individual. Slowly make your way east across the Mojave and into the Rocky Mountain states, Midwest, and South, but don't go too far. If you cross the Appalachian Mountains you'll know that you've ended up RIGHT back where you started.

OK - I tried to do it, but it was all messed up when I previewed. I'm hopeless when it comes to the 'href' stuff. So here is the link as I cut/pasted it.

This link, BTW, has all Steyn's latest articles, with an exceptional one on Canada's military might.
Knowing Canada's past heroism and what is said about it today is sad. I had an uncle in the Black Watch and his pride and patriosm was unmatched.

Its a fine time for Western Canada to move from concept to nation. I live in Washington and travel to British Columbia at least twice a year to ski. I've never been to eastern Canada, but B.C. is about as leftist as any place I can imagine. Even with that, I've always enjoyed myself there and found the people in central and eastern British Columbia (from the Okanagan east to the Rockies) to be both quite conservative in thought and incredibly friendly to American visitors (well, this one anyway).
I'm sure they like my U.S. dollars, but it is more than that, they speak more favorably of us from the states than they do of those in their own provincial government.
I would love to have these people and these lands join our nation -- except then I'd lose that great exchange rate that makes my dollars go as far as a dollar did back in the 50's and 60's!!

Thanks for doing the link!! I owe you!
This weekend, when I have time, I will play with it until I finally master it. You have inspired me!

they know if they get attacked the good ol' USA will be right there to defend them. 100% correct. I lived in Canuckistan for 6+ years. I know how they think. I can see the world through their eyes. As far as they're concerned protecting them is our job while they squander their resources on social experiments and socialism.

Steyn is right on as usual. Lets face it, all of North America has been going in the wrong direction for the last decade.G.W.B. won by the skin of his teeth(thank the Lord) and the wily old Cretin, seeing the writing on the wall, called an election before the opposition could mobilize. Canadians and Americans are brothers and the Canadian mainstream will now pull out of the funk and get on board. Canadians have, and always will be there for America. We will get our sh*t together. God bless America and GWB.

Contrary to popular belief, it is not so easy to enter Canada as an immigrant.
You must provide documented evidence
that you have no education,
no skills of value to civilized society,
no knowledge of the English language.
If you do not satisfy the above requirements,
they can be waived, provided you can show either:
1. You are a certified drug peddlar, or,
2. You have spent 5 years in prison in your home county for a criminal offence.
