Update #2 -Politically Incorrect Advertisers Contact List
Freepers | 9-21-2001 | All of us

Posted on 09/21/2001 4:33:42 AM PDT by quimby

After Bill Maher's comments on Moday nights "politically incorrect" show, both Sears and Fed Ex have dropped their sposorship of the show. Other sponsors are considering removing their ads. Please list any other sponsors and any contact info.

Here's the quote from Moday nights show::

Bill Mahr: But also, we should -- we have been the cowards lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building, say what you want about it, it's not cowardly.

Let these sponsors know what you think. The above quote is just the straw that broke the camels back. Maher is the coward for having a show format that puts one conservative and three liberal guests which makes the odds 4 to 1 against conservatives.

If you thinks this is about this one statement, please check out some of his previous statements here:

ABC's Vile Bill Maher Calls U.S. Military Cowardly & hijackers warriors!

and here:

Most distasteful monologue in the history of American television

Some have tried to frame this as a free speech issue. Not at all. Lets set him free to speak on some street corner.

Chevrolet

Ford Motor Company

Quiznos

Bill Maher was perfectly correct. And among those who followed the policy he labeled "cowardly"--lobbing bombs and missiles from a distance--was the Rapist.

Keeping this "issue" going is a waste of time, a distraction from productive support from the valid war effort and relief of the families of the victimes.

People are shocked and insulted when someone on Politically Incorrect says something politically incorrect?? I agree with McGowan that keeping this "issue" going is a waste of time, a distraction from productive support from the valid war effort and relief of the families of the victims.

I'm a long time lurker but signed up today to pass on this e-mail I received from Chevrolet. I sent e-mails at the recommendations of you Freepers. I guess it works!! Dear Mr. *******, Thank you for contacting the General Motors Internet Response Center regarding the recent television program, Politically Incorrect, with Bill Maher during which General Motors products were advertised. It is never our intention to offend any of our current or potential customers and if we have done so in your case, please accept our apologies. GM buys advertising airtime on a broad variety of popular programs, which reach a complete spectrum of American automobile buyers. Please be assured, however, the content of television programming carrying GM commercials is not indicative of the views of General Motors. Television advertising time is scheduled months in advance of the actual broadcast date, well before program content has been established. Occasionally, a GM commercial appears during a controversial program. We are concerned about these instances and make every attempt to avoid them. We review advertising spots on a case by case basis and have recently decided to withdraw advertising from this show. We strive to establish goodwill at all times, and will continue to look for ways of displaying our products in the homes of the American public in a non-offensive manner. General Motors is horrified by the recent tragic events that have taken place within our nation. We do appreciate your feedback and will share your comments with our Advertising Department for their consideration. Thank you for your interest in Chevrolet. Sincerely, Cynthia Murphy Customer Relationship Manager GM Internet Response Center

I agree that he was probably bashing X42, but his failure is no big loss to the landscape. He is a liberal like most of the rest.

This is a copy of my e-mail correspondence with Chevrolet, so far. It does not say they have capitulated, just some lame excuses.

Dear Mr. xxxxxx,
Thank you for contacting the Chevrolet Internet Response Center. We appreciate you interest in Chevrolet.

Thank you for your letter regarding the recent Politically Incorrect show, during which General Motors products were advertised. We appreciate your interest in GM, and we are sorry you were offended by the program you viewed.

GM rarely sponsors any particular television programs. We prefer to buy air time on a broad variety of popular programs, which reach a complete spectrum of American automobile buyers. Please be assured, however, the content of television programming carrying GM commercials is not indicative of the views of General Motors.

Television advertising time is scheduled months in advance of the actual broadcast date, well before program content has been established. Occasionally, a GM commercial appears during a controversial program, which offends some people. We are concerned about these instances and make every attempt to avoid them.

We strive to establish goodwill at all times, and we will continue to look for ways of displaying our products in the homes of the American public in a non-offensive manner. In view of the nature of your concerns, we are forwarding your comments to our Advertising Department.

We appreciate hearing your opinions.
If you require any further assistance, please feel free to contact us by internet correspondence at cac@chevrolet.com or the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center, at 1-800-222-1020, Monday through Friday 8am to 11pm, EST.

Thank you again for contacting Chevrolet.>br> Sincerely,
Geraldine Magner

------------------------- That's BS , and you know it. If a major player TELLS ABC or any other network NOT to advertise your product on a specific program, it will happen. This attitude is what causes boycotts. Is This piece of pond scum worth that?
