WHERE WOULD YOU GET YOUR NEWS FROM IF FREEREPUBLIC WASN'T HERE? Thread 2
September 18, 2001 | FReepers and Lurkers who care about FreeRepublic

Posted on 09/18/2001 2:39:01 PM PDT by WIMom

It is not always easy or fun sitting at a computer for hours and hours monitoring these threads. Everyone person here is a VOLUNTEER. As a matter of fact, we pay to do this. We spend days and weeks helping to keep FreeRepublic running.

Ask yourself these questions:

Where is the first place I go to get my news?
Am I getting any benefit from FreeRepublic?
Am I learning from FreeRepublic?

FreeRepublic is not free. It costs Jim Robinson tens of thousands of dollars to keep this forum running. There are over 60,000 registered users on FreeRepublic and only 1,000 help keep this forum running regularly. Those who do not have the ability to donate money could help by stopping by and giving a bump. Those who who do have the means and have not contributed, you should be ashamed of yourselves. You are a FReeploader.

We do not want to see this forum dead, therefore, we are asking that you help keep FreeRepublic running.

If everyone who registered donated one measly dollar a month, we would never have to have a fundraiser again.

Hi MVV, how're you doing?

Gosh you are so right on, in times like these every nickle needs to be named and accounted for.

In times like these, we all need to make sure FR stays alive and healthy, MVV. Now go play with your other screennames and have a nice day.

Would it be an appropriate symbol of national unity for us all to 'Light Up a Camel'? {;~)

To: 2ndMostConservativeBrdMember,WIMom,
I like your new "WHOOP-*SS" approach! You are doing a fantastic job, thanks. Thought I'd better scrape up a $20 before you had me doing push-ups. LOL!

My monthly is a tiny $3.00, and I'm aware that others are carrying the burden for many of us. To all poor Freepers, give what you can. Where else could you join an army of darn fine people and do this:

You are asking us to surrender everything of value, our families, faith, freedom and bow down to 'Allah' in the naive and wrong-headed belief that the militant Islamists will care what you think or want?

The Taliban has been carrying on ethnic cleansing for years. Rights for women? Forget about it. Children's rights? If you agree with the state, they won't shoot you. Different culture, philosophy, race or religion...shoot them, or imprison and torture them. They are not like us. They are not even like American leftists.

The terrorists don't want to "understand" you. They care nothing for your philosophy, or self-perceived wisdom. They use machetes on children, rape and genitally mutilate women, have kidnapped the children of unwilling neighbors and sent their heads back in a hatbox, peeled skin slowly away from prisoners until they die of pain, the don't care about "fairness," juries, or free speech. It's their way or execution, the death penalty, no appeal, no delay, shot in the head where you stand, your children shot before you. You can be forgiven for your ignorance, but there is no excuse for your ignorance of these terrorists while you're carrying on your naive campaign. By your actions, you hearten these very terrorists, strengthen their resolve and endanger Americans and our allies.
See: Survivors Describe Taliban "Killing Frenzy"
-brutal episode. We are talking about the systematic execution of perhaps 2,000 civilians, in large part because of their ethnic and religious identity. August, 1998.

Now, keep in mind that they are for the past week, where traffic increased by a good 50%, but if the Robinsons hadn't built the site to handle it, where would we be?

We'd be at Yahoo. It's an okay place to visit, but who wants to live there!

...With all due respect, I get news from lots of sources. I am registered at FR because I want to see opinions and a forum that I can respond. And, yea, I've sent a few dollars to FR. Enough said. Thanks to you at FR.

Thanks for the donation! The other sites are good for news too, but the discussions associated with them really make a difference!

It just isn't right or fair to ask people to give in a time of need, what the hell are FR higher ups thinkin.

If you don't give, in a time of need, when do you give? I bought some stock today. A little investment to help some companies try and stay solvent. I consider my donation to FR to be an investment to help keep dissemination of news solvent.

Pop-ups?

hmmmm

You know......that might not be a bad idea. Pop ups are annoying. It might be a good way to clean house a bit. Chances are that disruptors won't want to contribute. And they might get tired of the pop ups and go away!

My donation has been sent via PayPal, and will be done so every month from now on (finances permitting).

Thank you for doing this, and thanks to Jim for his dedication.

I think you are the one who needs to think before replying.

It is a shame you have such problems with what is or is not permitted here.

I suggest that you follow your own idea, and find your news elsewhere.
