Satanic Image Photo Not Doctored, Photographer Says

That mind-boggling photo of the World Trade Center in flames and billowing smoke that showed an almost perfect image of a satanic face is real and not doctored, says the man who took the picture. According to Mark D. Phillips, president of StellarImages Productions Inc., the photo is genuine and the image of a satanic figure was present when he shot the picture.

"As a photojournalist for over 20 years, I have photographed many horrifying events, but nothing prepared me for the two hours that took place Tuesday morning," Phillips said. "I cried as I shot the photographs of the towers burning. Never in my wildest imagination did I expect one of these photographs to cause a stir beyond the horror of what occurred.

"Through a split-second of a camera's shutter, I captured an image that many people are saying shows the face of the devil on the side of the burning tower. The image was also seen in videotape. I cannot explain how or why this happened, but those who think I somehow doctored the photograph are wrong."

Phillips is a well known photographer who has worked for the Morganton News Herald (NC), the Augusta Chronicle (GA), the Tampa Tribune (FL), The Associated Press (NY) and Agence France-Presse (NY). The photo can be seen at http://www.stellarimages.com/

People imagine all sorts of images in cloud formations, smoke billows, etc. It is interesting, however, that so many people deduced the depiction of "evil personified" in that horrific scene.

Your's is definitely cooler, but without the lines drawn in, it looks more like Uncle Junior from "The Sopranos".

While I think it is a meaningless coincidence - it doesn't look doctored to me.

I saved the picture to disk then opened in in Photoshop and zoomed to 985% - at that point the pixalation is very subtle and an "artist" couldn't see what he was doing unless he kept zooming in and out and clicking and undoing until there was this "image." Might take a very long time and doesn't seem like a very good use of it.

Better yet, if you can find the original image open it with a hex editor. If the words Adobe Photoshop are in the JPG header then the chances are it might be a fake.

I see a face in the smoke near the upper right corner of the black building...there was a larger crisper image of this up on a thread the day of the attacks...it is really erie...

I got the original AP photo which had not been adjusted for contrast and did it myself with Adobe Photoshop. The image was there whether I used levels or just brightness/contrast to adjust.
