I am disgusted.

Tonight at Macalester College in Saint Paul, MN, we (the Macalester Catholics) had mass in the basement of our Chapel. Since this place is very liberal (I'm here just for the physics department), I was afraid that during the time for prayer petitions, they'd say something stupid about the WTC attack.

I wasn't disappointed.

After one girl prayed for those of Islamic faith who were being unfairly persectuted, another girl came out on a peacenik tear. She said all kinds of inane things, the best three being "We shouldn't respond with violence", "We should fight terrorism with love", and "I'm not blaming those people who died, but we should see what the U.S. did to provoke these attacks." I, who had to stop myself from shaking in anger, then explained why we have to fight back "after we hug them, they will stab us in the back" and prayed for our country, our President, and for those who wanted peace, because I will not agree with them.

At this point, the girl broke into tears and kept crying throughout the Mass. Even better, four other people prayed for "an appropriate response", "so that nationalism doesn't get out of control and do something worse than the attacks", "the innocent people fleeing their homes in Afghanistan", and "the country of Afghanistan". I had had enough, and, fortuntately after that, no one said anything else so petition time ended. The rest of the Mass was uneventful, even though crying girl announced "I normally don't cry this much."

Usually after Mass, we share snacks and socialize about college life. I didn't stay tonight. I had to get out of there, and I really don't want to go back there next week. I don't feel sorry for making that girl cry either.

You have to talk to them in their language. You have to explain the Taliban lifestyle to them: "You know, of course, they don't allow women to leave their house unaccompanied by a male relative. Girl children are not allowed to be educated. Women must be covered from head to foot. They are not allowed to work, except to be physicians and that is only because male doctors are not allowed to examine women." And if that is not enough tell them that they stone homosexuals to death (this is a religious obligation). And then say to them (in all innocence), "which of those do you think we should accept so we can reach common ground?" (I would concentrate on the "stoning homosexuals to death" if you think they are of an "alternate orientation".)

I hope people like the one you mention are merely projecting into the future and are scared of their own shadow at the same time while realizing the probable outcome of this situation. (So, a guy can dream can't he?)

They know that we as Americans could level anything or anybody in the world if motivated well enough, be it in war or peace.

The thing the idiots don't understand is Americans as a people only shove when shoved first. On the other hand, terrorists as individuals, groups or governments just lash out like passive/aggressive cowards.

Its not so surprising. At first glance it would appear the American Left and the Islamist Nazis don't have anything in common since the Left hates religion and the Islamist Nazis hates atheists. So why does the American Left march up right behind what makes for a strange ideological bedfellow? Well religion apart, they both hate America and find capitalism morally repulsive. No wonder the American Left is serving as an apologist for people who seek to have America destroyed. The American Left doesn't like America as it exists either. Their souls are full of self-hatred. They should have done us all a favor by being on the planes with hijackers instead of the innocents who were murdered. At least they'd be going to a happy place since they can't bring themselves to be at home in America.

Shake the dust off. There is no reasoning with nincompoops. Many people spend their entire lives creating all manner of justifications for evil.
