I am disgusted.

Tonight at Macalester College in Saint Paul, MN, we (the Macalester Catholics) had mass in the basement of our Chapel. Since this place is very liberal (I'm here just for the physics department), I was afraid that during the time for prayer petitions, they'd say something stupid about the WTC attack.

I wasn't disappointed.

After one girl prayed for those of Islamic faith who were being unfairly persectuted, another girl came out on a peacenik tear. She said all kinds of inane things, the best three being "We shouldn't respond with violence", "We should fight terrorism with love", and "I'm not blaming those people who died, but we should see what the U.S. did to provoke these attacks." I, who had to stop myself from shaking in anger, then explained why we have to fight back "after we hug them, they will stab us in the back" and prayed for our country, our President, and for those who wanted peace, because I will not agree with them.

At this point, the girl broke into tears and kept crying throughout the Mass. Even better, four other people prayed for "an appropriate response", "so that nationalism doesn't get out of control and do something worse than the attacks", "the innocent people fleeing their homes in Afghanistan", and "the country of Afghanistan". I had had enough, and, fortuntately after that, no one said anything else so petition time ended. The rest of the Mass was uneventful, even though crying girl announced "I normally don't cry this much."

Usually after Mass, we share snacks and socialize about college life. I didn't stay tonight. I had to get out of there, and I really don't want to go back there next week. I don't feel sorry for making that girl cry either.

I went to mass at a bluegrass music festival in Winfield KS Saturday night. At the beginning of the sermon, the priest said, you had better sit down (many had to stand because they didn't bring their own chairs and it was in a large tent) because I'm going to be going at it for a while and then he proceeded to hammer away in a righteous way at the need to retaliate, to reconcile our feelings and make a measured response but to retaliate. He spoke of the culture of death and he said that maybe now our children will be allowed to pray in public school and after mass my protestant husband said, "I didn't think priests even knew how to preach like that."

It was pretty amazing. Of course, I would have been happier if we had ended with God Bless America instead of Let there be peace on Earth but you can't have everything.

You have just nailed one of the PRIMARY reasons why I became Orthodox, instead of Catholic. Today in the Divine Liturgy, we were celebrating the Elevaton of the Holy Cross. The Hymn went like this: "Lord, grant victory to those who fight against evil." We repeat that hymn several times. We sang petitions for our victory over the Muslims. We prayed for God's mercy and protection on our armed forces, on our leaders, and on the poor victims. We prayed for their souls. My own parish belongs to the Greek Archdiocese. No one has to explain to the Greeks, or those of Greek descent, what the Muslims are like. On Wednesday a priest of Coptic Church (Egyptian Orthodox) will be coming to celebrate a vespers service with us. While we are not in communion with the church of Egypt, it is felt that we must all show solidiarity with each other at this time. It is truly heartening. American flags were everywhere, and not a single word of 'multi-culturalism' was breathed by anyone. We forgive the ragheads who did this, and pray for mercy for them before the awesome judgement seat of God. But that doesn't mean that we won't FULLY WITHOUT RESERVATION support the President of the U.S. in his efforts to utterly destroy the monstrous Islamic threat from the face of the Earth. Christians are not doormats. Ask Contantine XI who chose death over surrender at Constantinople, or Charles Martel who defeated the Moors in France, or Jan III Sobieski who saved Vienna from the Turks, or any number of great men of Christ who protected the believers from the infidel. The Catholic Church in this country has been undermined by Marxists and filled with wimps. It must recover its roots, the roots Orthodoxy has not left, or it will recede into history. What a shame that the great Roman Church has slid so far into PC Hell.

Folks, we as individuals and as a nation had better come to grips with reality real quick. The rubble that was once the WTC and the Pentagon teaches one powerful lesson and it is this: These people can NOT be reasoned with, they can NOT be negotiated or "made nice" with.

The Islamic Fundamentalists don't want our "love" or "hugs". Is everyone listening?... THEY WANT US ALL DEAD. They want to KILL you and me if we are Americans or Israelis. They are fanatically bent upon the wholesale and total destruction of our country, our faith, our children, our sons and daughters, our fathers and mothers our way of life. THEY HATE US... period.

Our nation has been mercilessly attacked. Thousands upon thousands of CIVILIAN citizens are dead because that was their intention and whether we like it or not we are at WAR. Those responsible, along with those who sponsor, profit from and support them must be held accountable and punished. The sword of justice must be now be applied and applied strongly and swiftly upon those who have made themselves our enemies. Otherwise the events of September 11, 2001 will be repeated on an ever-increasing level throughout our land in the days ahead.

If our enemies were able to accomplish all of this with box cutters. Think what they WILL attempt when they obtain biological and nuclear weapons of MASS DESTRUCTION! Do not be under any illusion that they would not dare to use them. They WILL, GLADLY, they will rejoice and pass out more candy to their children as hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of Americans lay dead in the streets.

This is the enemy we are up against and it is the face of pure evil and hate. They will not listen to a message of "love" or "hugs". The only message they will understand, the only message that will get their attention and deter their plans, activities and ultimate goals is the message of overwhelming force leading to THEIR utter destruction.

I do not say these thing because I hate them. (I pray for their souls and for their salvation through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ who can save them and forgive their sins.) I say these things because this is reality. This is the enemy we face and must defeat. If we do not, he alternative will be too horrendous to endure.

As a fellow Catholic, my advise to you is to seek out a more conservative Church even if it means you have extra travelling time. There is definitely a division in the church between bleeding heart cafeteria Catholics [CINO'S], and no-nonsense Roman Catholic conservatives.

So sorry, Hawkeye's Girl. We had the same crap here in Madison last week. There was a rally for the victims, and the keynote speaker is a noted pacifist. I forget his name, because I don't waste my time remembering that kind of stuff.

Congratulations on graduation. Unfortunately, I'll have spent 7 years here by the time I'm done. As soon as we start bombing, I'm wearing the Bush/Cheney shirt.
