Media Spin Changes Story From Terrorism To Racism

Peter Jennings was moderator of some wishy washy "town meeting" forum about the "racism" angle of the tragic event this week. I only spent about 2-3 minutes watching, I would have become very dangerous watching anymore of the program.

I've noticed all sorts of other programming now changing the tone of this event from an act of terrorism to a discussion about diversity, race relations, and tolerance.

Very similar to the way OJ Simpson deflected the story from a murder trial, to a debate on race. Sickening.

It's tragic that some Americans might do stupid things to foreigners at a time like this. There are lots of people in this country, there are bound to be random acts of stupidity at a time like this. But for the media, and leftists to change the story to a race debate is predictably despicable.

It's a self-fulfilling prophesy. The more we talk about not committing violence against Muslims, the more likely it is to happen. People become angry because they think we are being slighted in favor of protecting the Muslims. Also the glory seekers discover they can get some publicity by attacking Muslims.

Muslims need only embrace us and stand as patriots rather than speaking out of both sides of their mouth to be embraced as brothers. It's the divided loyalty we can't stand, not their religion or race.

I'm waiting for someone to remind the media that the last three military altercations in which the United States was involved dealt with saving and defending Muslims. They were the Persian Gulf War, Bosnia and Kosovo. And dipsh!ts like Peter Jennings should understand that they do not become experts on anything simply because some moron decided they looked good on television...

Have you caught any of VH1's special programming lately? Just yesterday I saw musical celebrities saying the EXACT same thing. Melissa Etheridge in particular. It's about tolerance! Fah!

Peter Jennings town meeting was not good. When the Islamic man was speaking he was allowed to skirt the truth and evade it, and he did not give a clear idea of what Islam is and it's lack of tolerance for those who choose not to believe in it. He did not make it clear that in Islamic countries, the penalty of leaving Islam is death. Some countries such as Jordan allow intimidation, and legally people are not allowed to change their religion from Islam to another. While the Muslims claim to believe in Jesus as a prophet, they really do not believe what he has said, and if challenged, they all say that the bible has been changed. They teach that Jesus never did die on the cross, that God in his pity just lifted him into heaven, and that when he comes again, he will follow muhammed (the man with the 14 wives) and that Jesus will only live 40 years and then die. They really do not like the truth to be known about Islam, and we here in the USA have also been guilty of helping them hide their dark secrets, by not bringing the truth into the light.

You should be aware that these events are completely "staged." Prior to any of these alleged community media events, anybody that might get any face time has to submit their questions in advance. Anybody that doesn't fit the producer's plan for the program either never even gets in, or never gets heard. I used to work in tv (before I couldn't take it anymore) so I know how they do it.

The local radio and tv stations are broadcasting ANYONE with some sort of "story".

I get the feeling that the media is actively pursuing, and encouraging fabrication of events. Lots of folks going to use this as some sort of law suit angle. Suing McDonalds of Denny's because the establishment didn't give them good service etc..

Yup, many of the "Presidential Debates" we saw on TV, especially by PBS, were grossly staged events.

Threats against muslims are a natural consequence of our government's weak language about the attack. I heard so-called Rabbi Kushner on CNN (of course) exhort the president to "not listen to Americans who want revenge just to feel better." I am not aware of any such Americans and I resent his holier-than-thou elitism at this critical moment. As for the domestic muslim community, more must be expected of them at this time of fanatical terror. It can only be hoped that the ACLU agenda of special rights for minorities is a doomed one for quite some time to come.BTW, I am olive skinned, dark-haired, and dark-eyed, yet I have no particular fear that I will be confused for a muslim militant.

I agree, the best thing would be for the Muslims to fly their US colors or if they can't bring themselves to thta, then to be unobtrusive and stop their demonstrations for now or go home. But I don't think Americans have done very much considering what was done to us. It's mean to harass people, I wouldn't do that, but I sure would be quick to report anything suspicious someone might be doing. I'm sorry some might think that is harassment.

Perhaps. We are less than 60 years from "The only good Jap is a dead Jap." being the conventional wisdom of 90 percent of the population. Human nature does not change. It does not evolve. When people are attacked, they hate and take revenge. It always has been that way, always will be.

What Jennings had best worry about is "The only good media is a dead media." If the public comes to the conclusion that the media is not on their side in a time of war, the media are in big trouble.
