Last month the Russian RIA Novosti news agency reported that Russia's Foreign Ministry condemned the appointment of Saudi terrorism suspect Osama bin Laden as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces of Afghanistan's ruling Taliban regime. Interesting, if true. Afghanistan, then, becomes the first target of the new war.
Watch for "incoming," Afghanistan regime. Those who may survive should see some very interesting sized balls of superheated sand littering the country. They will feel like glass, but will be black in color and will not be transparent. People shouldn't pick up too many, though. After all, they may be radioactive.
Bill Clinton lobbed useless strikes against desert aspirin factories and small (supposed) terrorists training camps. But, Clinton did these things more to get his own personal problems off the front pages for a few days rather than for honest retaliation for terrorism.
Those days are over. President George W. Bush has no such personal problems. Rather, his popularity and approval rating is at a remarkable 86% at this writing. President Bush also has a team that knows how to put a winning plan in place and keep their mouths shut about it until implemented.
Terrorists pricked the ass of the sleeping giant. Now that giant is awake, united, totally pissed off, and demanding retribution!
Can the Afghanistan regime duck? Hope so, because there may be quite a lot coming at them very soon. All indications point to their armed forces chief, Osama bin Laden, as the director of war on the United States. Which means, to Afghanistan, IN-COMING! It won't be coming until our President is ready to send it. There's no real hurry. But, be advised Afghanistan Taliban regime, it will be coming soon. And, when it does, that flash you see may be your last.
Our government asked that Afghanistan turn over Osama bin Laden for trial as a terrorist. Afghanistan did not. Well, please don't now. This is war, now. The time for long, drawn out trials is over. Now comes the time for Osama bin Laden, all his coconspirators, and his supporters, to cease to exist.
The world must know that terrorists may not come to the United States and violate the Life, Liberty and Property of the American people. We Americans are not willing to give up Liberty in trade for a little security. Instead, we prefer to declare war on all terrorists and eliminate any we find.
And find them we have. Already, various police agencies have rounded up about 50 supporters of terrorists. There are more, and they will also be found within the next few days. Then we go after the few hundred who are overseas.
The Afghanistan regime has a right to be worried. Afghanistan has been providing aide, comfort and intelligence to terrorists for many years. These terrorists have attacked many areas of Europe, as well as American facilities overseas. Therefore, it is no surprise that several of the world's governments agree that we should declare war on terrorism and take them all out, once and for all. NATO, and even Russia and China, are indicating they want in on this, too.
Which means, a bright line in the sand must be drawn. All Arab countries must pick a side. After the dust settles, those governments on the wrong side of that line will certainly be abolished and supervised provisional republics will be set up in their place.
That is our message to Afghanistan's ruling Taliban regime and all other tin-pot dictatorships allowing or sponsoring terrorists. We will not allow ourselves to be a target of terrorism. The acts of last week unified the American people and brought the governments of many nations into our camp. Now we shall respond in a way terrorists never dreamed possible.
Because, we who live in free and relatively free nations have absolutely no intention of sacrificing Liberty for security against terrorism. We enjoy our freedom and want more, not less. Therefore, our options are limited.
Terrorists awoke the sleeping giant. Now that the giant is awake and angry, he is considering amassing the largest military force known to man and wiping from the face of the earth all those terrorist activists and supporters who would violate the Liberty of free people.
Then, we will no longer need worry about sacrificing Liberty for security. Most of those who would breach our Liberty will be gone. Those missed will be cowering in fear.
Arab terrorists started the war. We shall end it. And, in the process, one message will become strikingly clear to everyone in the world: Americans love their Liberty and are willing to kill anyone who violates it.
Really, there is nothing else they need know.

Is the genie out of the bottle here?
I wonder what would have happened while [Jan "the man" Reno] was still in power?
(I'll add a "2001 update" to this when the time is appropriate.)

This is a great post. Too many mox-nix posts going up now. Just like the news casters, they have nothing "new" to say so they just repackage what has already been said.
Time to hand over bin Laden and get down on your knees to the Great Satan to beg for mercy, raghead scum. Your days are numbered.
Many times we (me included) harangue government agents for what appears to be overreacting. Last Tuesday was not one such time. The swift actions of federal officials and federal police last Tuesday were nothing short of heroic. When the full story comes out, the direction and expert leadership of the Bush Administration will eventually be chronicled in the annals of history as immediate emergency actions that saved many thousands of American lives.
A government source who is very much in the know, who prefers to remain anonymous at this time, indicated that there were actually twenty teams of hijackers ready to act last Tuesday. That only four of the teams got off the ground was because the federal government suspended all flights around the country. The four early flights got off the ground. The others did not.
No one yet knows for sure the targets of these other hijacking operations. But, we must assume that they were all similarly high-visibility targets, as were the three hijacked aircraft that hit buildings. Which means, many, many thousands more Americans were targeted for death.
Therefore, we must give credit where credit is due. Under the Bush Administration, the FBI and FAA acted immediately and decisively in quickly suspending all air traffic throughout the country -- very heroic actions for bureaucrats to take in our Constitutional Republic where Liberty is prized.
In this case, the faceless bureaucracy worked perfectly. We owe them our gratitude for saving countless thousands of American lives by their swift and decisive action. In truth, a few thousand Americans probably own them their lives.
This is very credible information due to the fact that several suspects have been caught carrying similar items in airports (knives, fake credentials, etc.) in the past few days. We cannot just call this a coincidence. Would any SANE Muslim/Arab carry anything that could imply guilt in light of the attacks? Yes, the feds have done a great job in such a terrible situation.
During this crisis, I have tried to keep my finger-pointing and partisanship to a minimum, but we can't help but to wonder what the outcome would have been if the federal government, for the past 8+ years had not wasted so much time, energy and resources focusing on trivial matters instead of tracking the movements of the REAL enemy. Would this have even happened?
Thanks Fred for making sure I didn't miss this.
