Below is a portion of the text of an email that has gone out to Microsoft employees from their management
In the days and weeks ahead, its important for Microsoft and for each of us individually to think about how we can help. As a company, Microsoft is today making a $10 million contribution to assist those who have been impacted by the tragedy. We are contributing $5 million in cash to the September 11 Fund, created by the United Way of New York City and The New York Community Trust. In addition to cash, we are also contributing people and expertise. We have committed up to $5 million in technical assistance, including Microsoft Consulting Services and software to assist in the recovery effort. We also are in contact with business customers who have been severely impacted by yesterdays tragedy to see what we can do to assist them.
Our customers
Our US field teams and PSS have engaged with our customers in NYC and at the Pentagon and we are assisting them with their disaster recovery plans. We are assembling Response Teams to assist customers impacted by yesterdays events to rebuild systems and get their businesses up and running. We will leverage resources from around the company to support these Response Teams. We are working to coordinate our efforts in this area and there is a defined process for how our field teams are rolling up requests for Response Team resources and a process, managed by PSS, for how we are fulfilling those requests for assistance. Kevin Johnson will be sending out more details to the US Sales, Marketing and Services organization shortly on these efforts.

We need MS to enlist in the coming cyber-war

Sungard and Comdisco are both on full alert in the Midwest out of Chicago and are handling the overflow from the Eastern division. Mainframe recoveries are being handled in a thorough, efficient, and professional manner. The IT industry is widespread and redundant, this act of war can only serve to motivate the recovery community to rise to our greatest challenge since Y2K. Although I cannot speak for everyone, we in the recovery field are dedicated to our duty and are working round the clock to help restore communications and computer systems. God bless all of you, and God bless America.

Where are other tech companies -- you know, the ones who lobbied the federal government to file suit against Microsoft: AOL, Oracle, Sun Microsystems, IBM, Apple, etc?

We need to put together a "Dirty Dozen" team of jailed expert hackers. If they can completely dismantle the terrorist financial organization give them a pardon.

Maybe Larry Ellison can pay his hired PI thugs to dig through the Taliban's garbage instead of Microsoft's now.

They showed MicroSoft's flight simulator on TV tonight and it showed a jet flying across NY and crashing into the World Trade Center.

FYI - Microsoft sells software to the Taliban. Microsoft sells its software to retailers, most of whom don't require a religious or ethnic litmus test from their customers prior to purchase.
What utter drivel.....

Great, so you want to prosecute Microsoft for producing a flight sim?

I also flew into the Sears Tower in Chicago. I've flown into the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Tonight while playing Falcon 4.0, I shot down my own tanker while flying an F-16. And while the crew was parachuting to safety, I riddled their canopys. Does this make me a trained pilot/kamikaze?

FYI - Microsoft sells software to the Taliban. Gee, thanks for the news flash. I bet the Taliban drinks lots of Coca-Cola too. Maybe they went to McDonalds every now and then. Or subscribe to The Wall Street Journal. Maybe some of them even surf Free Republic.
